Congratulations to my friend Jay Graybill on a Pennsylvania bull! You could make quite a few walking sticks with those tines!

This week was a struggle. Sometimes I need a little humble pie.
A hit without recovery Sunday. A stupid move on my part resulting in a miss on Tuesday.
Another miss on Friday, that was a small target.
Yet it all worked out, at 1:15 in the afternoon of 10/25. I punched out the blood pump on a Crawford County doe with the .58

While giving time for parts to rust and finish to dry with the squirrel rifle I went ahead and made up a loading board.
12 shots allows me to miss every other opportunity with a daily limit of 6 here in Pennsylvania!

I killed his mature doe the last minutes of January 4, 2025.
It was about the best shot I put on a deer with a flint gun, with a heart shot offhand.

If you saw the video, I made ash lye and slipped the hair then later I attempted to brain tan. I really struggled. I had it in the freezer and finally decided just to stretch and let it dry as rawhide.
I hung it as a back drop behind my hunting bags, under my deer bashin' .58 early gun.

Im thinking of painting a simple border of the state of PA on it.
What do you think?

I got a father's day card this morning from my 9 year old Sydney. It read that for father's day she wanted to face her fear of the sound of the rifle and shoot the .36 kids gun. This is the gun that I built for my children to start out on.
Later this afternoon she measured the powder, started the ball and rammed it home. She then put the small siler lock to half cock tapped a little 3F into the pan and closed the frizzen. Shouldered it and fired.
She smiled. It made my day.

I was not sure how I wanted to display the jake I shot with the fowler.
No brass from a shot shell to do the normal.
Jim Keller suggested deer antler.
I used antler and a fencing staple to make it work.
I think it turned out well.

The pan powder went to mud this morning from the rain/ humidity and I had to sit the flintlock to the side and shoulder the 935.
Yes I carried both this AM.
16.5 lb
9.5" beard
1 7/16" spur & 7/8" spur
Potter County, PA.

I WILL be carrying the flintlock from here on out for that bonus tag folks!
