I HERALD, GALACTUS 🌌

My new inspired poster design for Marvel Studios new movie, Fantastic Four: First Steps. The trailers, with their cool retro-future aesthetic and FANTASTIC soundtrack, fueled a lot of ideas for this piece. I drew inspiration from admired movie poster artists like Saul Bass, Matt Ferguson, and Olly Moss.

I wanted the GARGANTUAN eater of worlds, GALACTUS to consume a central portion of the poster with the F4 characters and surrounding elements like Silver Surfer and the Excelsior highlighting the monstrous scale of this threat. 🚀

I wanted to achieve a piece that was epic and bold. The genius ‪@michaelgiacchino6676‬ incredible soundtrack, particularly “The Galactus/Silver Surfer Suite” score, really sparked many ideas for the colours and that epic cinematic feel. Hopefully, I’ve captured some of that here. 4️⃣

💥Get ready for an epic showdown! My new inspired for score ‪@marvel‬ studios’ Captain America: Brave New World, titled ‘The Shield’ is OUT NOW! 🛡️

This tension-building composition is imagined for an epic fight scene with Captain America, Red Hulk and the military on Tiamut island. I leaned into a blend of sampled drums, synths and distortion with textured loops to give the track and very atmospheric industrial feel while the orchestral layers drive the composition forward and feel very epic. I used a lot of Spitfire orchestral and Persons sound libraries with ghost hack samples to create an immersive sound design.

There’s also a second track released, ‘The Shield’ (Orchestral version) 🎶 featuring just the pure orchestral sounds. It has a different emotional tone, feeling striped back yet incredibly powerful at the same time.

The cover art for the score features the new Captain America, Sam Wilson’s shield front and centre but hulk-smashed into the ground and debris blasted out. While in the background we can see the celestial Tiamut’s head and the military ships and aircraft surrounding the sea and skies.

I’m excited to share my unboxing video, an album deep dive into the third chapter of these classic albums, ’Catch 22’ (The Complete Edition) & ‘The Arrival’, produced by one of my biggest musical influences ‪@TagtgrenPeter‬, and released via ‪@NuclearBlastRecords‬. 👽

We’re exploring the details of these exceptional gatefold LPs, looking at the artwork, the layout and the coloured vinyl pressings. I’ve loved these albums for many years and it’s great to have them in the record collection. 📀

New vlog posted on the channel! A behind the scenes of the video/audio recording that McCarthy Instruments and I did for the his handpan cover of Iron Maiden's 'Fear Of The Dark'.

Jake and I planned to go into the studio to film something with the exquisite drums he hand crafts since the last recording he helped me with (which I still have to finish) and it took us 3 to finally do that! 😊
