Why a Patreon page?
It is a more stable income source for me, and I find it more straightforward and honest than saturating videos with ads (I keep them to the minimum YouTube will allow, ie no mid-roll ads that would interrupt your watchtime). It also replaces sponsorships or sponsored shopping links in my videos, because let's face it: you most probably don't need their products, and I don't want to tell you about brands or services I would never buy for myself. I also stay away of merch, because the world doesn't really need more t-shirts or mugs. All of this thanks to Patreon.

What is Patreon?
A site where people can support creators with monthly donations, which give them access to the creator's page and the rewards that come with it.

What do you get when you join?
1/ All my stories can be listened to as podcasts, that is to say you can listen in streaming directly from the Patreon site or on your usual podcast app thanks to a private link.
2/ You can download the audios and videos, if you wish to listen/watch offline. New stories are posted before I upload them to YouTube, and you have access to a library of downloads with everything I made since 2019, that is to say 200+ different stories that last 50 to 80 minutes each.
3/ In-between videos, I post updates about what to expect next, and when, and then I comply with the deadlines (most of the time).
4/ Exclusive surveys about future video topics.
5/ Extra attention paid to your topic requests. They can be sent by PM or in comments under each post. Obviously I can never guarantee that I will follow every suggestion, but about half of my new videos are actually requests from patrons.

How much does it cost?
What you want, from US$1, CA$1, AU$1, £1 or €1 per month. You get charged when you join, and then each month on the same day. You can delete your pledge whenever you want or need - even if it is for only one month, I am always grateful for the support! The average monthly pledge is US$3-4 as of today. In average, creators get 90% of what you pay them. The remaining 10% goes to credit card fees and the site itself.

The French Whisperer ASMR

New video out on Sunday, it will take us to prehistory and it will be about the appearance of "Behavioral Modernity". This concept encompasses a series of traits and behaviors that humanity adopted in the Paleolithic: figurative art, burial of the dead, technological breakthroughs, artistic expression through ornamentation or music, long distance trade... These are indicative of symbolic and abstract thinking. I will tell you about the concept and the debates surrounding it, archaeological evidence, as well as the factors that could have triggered it and shaped human culture.

BTW, why would you change? No worries if you prefer YouTube, I will keep posting everything here too. But this podcast called "Sleep and ASMR by the French Whisperer" is a very important alternative for me because the bulk of my audience is now on audio platforms.
Here are a few reasons to move that may apply to you:

- First, the sound is better. It is generally better on podcast apps (they don't distort it as much as YouTube does with their "stable volume" feature). I also remaster and equalize the sound before posting all these podcast episodes, and it makes a big difference for older episodes.

- Second, unless you have a YouTube Premium subscription you are always at risk of having ads at the end of episodes here (it is no longer possible to disable them).

- Third, audio apps don't empty your battery as much, nor force you to have a video playing on your screen if you don't watch it.

- Fourth, on Apple Podcasts or Spotify you can listen to history or science documentaries and/or sleep content, without being immediately offered tons of AI slop. YouTube does not filter, and adjusts things ex post, whereas podcast services work with hosting platforms that filter the content they allow to be monetized, and this keeps most of the AI and low effort content out.

For those who did not see my previous post here: I just started turning the videos on this channel into a new podcast. A new story will be released every day for the next three months, so that can also be an opportunity to discover or rediscover older stories that YouTube never shows you. You could already listen to the stories as "albums" on the music side of Spotify or Apple Music, and this is going to continue. But they are now going to be available as podcast episodes too.
Of course it is just audio, but there are also advantages in comparison with YouTube (better sound, as podcast platforms do not alter it, less ads and in particular not after tracks end, less battery usage...). There are already several episodes available (History of Medicine, the Odyssey, Journey to the Moons of Jupiter, Epic of Gilgamesh...). I rework the sound a little bit before they are released, to clean it up and even out the volume between episodes (I make the old ones louder, so that ads will not be jarring).

Some of you requested the episodes on this channel to be turned into a podcast, and I just started it. You could already listen to the stories as "albums" on the music side of Spotify or Apple Music, and this is going to continue. But they are now also going to be available as podcast episodes.
Of course it is just audio, but there are also advantages in comparison with YouTube (better sound, as podcast platforms do not alter it, less ads and in particular not after tracks end, less battery usage...).
