Safe in the Seat

Hey there! I'm Michelle, a nationally certified child passenger safety technician and mom of 2. I am the founder and owner of Safe in the Seat. My goal here on this channel and in all we do at Safe in the Seat is to bridge the gap between the science and technical side of car seat safety with real, everyday mom life. Car seats can be confusing– but armed with the correct information, shared in an easy-to-understand way, you will be car seat confident in no time! And, as a mom of two, I am on this ride with you!

Safe in the Seat

Over half the families I saw pushing a stroller or car seat last week had it completely covered. A blanket draped over the top, the infant seat cover zipped shut, the canopy stretched all the way down.

Every single one was doing it out of love, to keep the sun and heat off their baby. I did the exact same thing before I understood what it does.

Covering a stroller or car seat like that traps heat and cuts off airflow, which can make it hotter in there than if you'd left it open.

When it's this warm out, shade and airflow are your two best friends.
✅ Find shade wherever you can
✅ Clip on a stroller fan
✅ Once you get where you're going, take baby out to cool down if you can.

Safe in the Seat

Every mom just wants to keep her kids safe. That’s it. That’s the goal. That’s why ‪@safeintheseat‬ exists.

Because of what this SITS mom learned here, she confidently kept her two children safest when it mattered most.

That’s why I do this.
Not fear. Not shame. Not judgment. Just clear, supportive, expert-backed education so you can control the controllable.

If you want to learn more about why rear-facing matters, comment REARFACING and I’ll send it your way.

And if you’re not gonna do that, know this:
SAFE: 2+
SAFER: as long as possible for your child and family
SAFEST: until your child reaches one of the rear-facing limits of their seat and has to turn forward (but not before 2!)
