Nothing beats the joy of building something and seeing it work! We designed a small solar-powered weather station to test its limits in the harsh Canadian winter—down to -27°C and beyond! 🇨🇦❄️

It'’s holding up great in the last couple of months! It sends real-time data to an MQTT broker every 15 minutes, which we can view on Home Assistant, an HMI, or a SCADA screen.

This project was a fun way to experiment with product design while setting up a local weather station. A sneak peek at one of holiday projects: a prototype device with a camera and an ultrasonic sensor for smart home applications. Why? Because I got tired of playing hide-and-seek with PIR sensors batteries every few months. So, I went old-school and gave it wired power 🔋 The device integrates into Home Assistant. Also, the data goes to an MQTT broker as well and ready to be used in different demos.
