Former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan is no longer an accused in the plunder and graft cases involving Senator Jinggoy Estrada over the alleged ₱573-million flood control kickback scheme.
The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division granted the Ombudsman’s request to remove Bonoan as co-accused, paving the way for him to potentially serve as a state witness and provide information about the alleged corruption network behind the flood control projects.
The development comes as Estrada continues to face the charges. On September 3, the court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf after he declined to enter a plea.
