Day 2 of scrolling through Instagram and YouTube.

I'm both proud and heartbroken.

The truth is finally coming out, the dark truth about how our government is responding to its own youth.

Students in Delhi came together to demand educational reforms. They marched with the intention of holding a peaceful protest, asking for answers that every citizen deserves. But instead of dialogue, they were met with expired tear gas, lathi charges, and violence. Some reports even claim that a few police officials used lathis with nails. Girls were allegedly assaulted. Unidentified attackers carrying lathis were also spotted. Even innocent students who weren't part of the protest, people who were simply passing by, were beaten.

Meanwhile, sections of the media are focusing on injured police personnel. But what about the students? Many have reportedly suffered severe injuries. Some are fighting for their lives. Some have fractures. Some were reportedly shot. Some suffered serious head injuries. Some were left bleeding. If those meant to protect citizens respond with brutality, what does that say about the system?

Is this really how you treat the future of your country? With abuse? They asked questions about what is right, and they were treated like unnecessary noise.

India's education system is deeply broken. It is costing students their mental health, their future, and, in some cases, even their lives.

We need answers.

And if we protest for those answers, does that make us anti-national?

No. What is truly anti-national is treating your own youth like terrorists for demanding accountability, responding with violence instead of dialogue, and pointing guns at the very people who represent the country's future. Shame on you.

Growing up, I read in my Political Science books and in our Constitution that every citizen has the right to question and criticise the government. Today, that promise feels painfully distant.

I feel helpless knowing I can't physically stand beside everyone fighting for this movement, for this "azadi." But I can still raise my voice.

Let's not bow before a government that refuses accountability.

Let's not allow ourselves to be manipulated.

Let's promise ourselves this:
We will never stay silent.
We will continue to question.
We will continue to protest peacefully.
And we will never be manipulated so easily.

The government owes us answers.
