Opera Lirica was founded with the aim of making musical theatre accessible to a wider audience and to give young artists the opportunity to practice their craft. The company was founded by Vincenzo Nesci. Vince was a member of Opera Australia for 20 years and has sung professionally for the past 30 years. He has performed many leading roles in opera and concert. Since its foundation Opera Lirica has grown in size and scope and has staged classics such as La Traviata, The Gondoliers and Cavalleria Rusticana, performing in Sydney and Blue Mountains. The company highlights the talents of up-and-coming young talent from Sydney as well as experienced singers and actors from both Sydney and the Blue Mountains. The result is a fresh and lively take on classics not usually performed outside the great opera houses of the world. Vince’s direction provides innovation and continual visual interest, while staying true to the period intended by the Opera’s composer and librettist.
