The Subterranean Labyrinth: Derinkuyu is an ancient underground metropolis in Cappadocia, carved entirely by hand into soft volcanic tuff. It descends an astonishing 85 meters into the earth across 18 subterranean levels.
A Tomb for the Living: Built as a massive refuge to escape invasions and war, the complex was capable of sheltering up to 20,000 people, alongside their livestock and food supplies.
Sealed from the Light: When danger swept across the surface, inhabitants retreated into the depths and sealed the tunnels from the inside using massive circular stone doors weighing over 1,000 pounds.
A Forgotten Realm: This colossal underground world remained abandoned and hidden for decades until it was accidentally rediscovered in 1963 by a man knocking down a basement wall in his home.

But that is not the most chilling part.
