I study and make content about languages, primarily Old English and Latin. My series 'Word Æfter Cwæð' brings in for discussion various experts on fields relating to early medieval England, and has featured guests such as R.D. Fulk, Stephen Pollington, Geoffrey Russom, and Jackson Crawford.

Hey guys, sorry to have to say this but unfortunately I have recently lost a pretty important battle, and as a result there will be some changes around the channel. All videos after today will now be in French, and all writing will be in Latin, until maybe I figure out how to write in French, or alternatively go back to speaking English (albeit with a lot of French mixed in). I apologize to everyone who liked the Old English content; this is just the way of the world sometimes. Il est temps pour moi de commencer à apprendre le français!

It’s about that time of year when lots of people online begin trading misinformation and polemics about the origins of Easter. Stay informed and check out my interview on this topic with Richard Sermon: https://youtu.be/ERGnkf_m-nY?si=cGYIw...

A year ago today, I achieved my goal of being able to recite 1,000 lines of Beowulf from memory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymkK9...
These days, because of my pigritia and signifigantly busier life, I can only get to about line 750 before I have to reference a book, so hopefully I can reconquer some lost territory in that regard in the coming months. Either way, I'm extremely grateful to my past self for brute-forcing through it; the experience permanently transformed my ability to understand Beowulf and the rhythm of Old English verse in a totally unique and irreplicable way.

Hello wonderful subscribers and viewers!
I've felt a growing frustration at not having enough time to read a sufficient amount of scholarship from my guests before interviewing them. As such, for the forseeable future, I'm switching to interviews every two weeks. I apologize for those who had gotten very used to weekly uploads - the series isn't going anywhere, I just need to slow down in order to give the time to my guests that they, and you, deserve. Thanks for understanding and faraþ gesunde!

Thank you all so much for 50k!
Erika and I are redecorating and painting and there is quite a lot going on, so it might be a while until my next proper video, but I have an exciting interview planned for this Sunday (so look forward to that). As always, I can’t thank my Patrons enough for enabling me to dedicate time and resources towards making videos. Iċ þancie ēow swīðe swīðlīċe!
