Many school-age children in Sierra Leone lack reliable electricity. Some have none at all.

This limits evening study and hurts school performance. Many students rely on kerosene lamps, which are unsafe and unhealthy.
Develop Africa is providing long-lasting solar lights so students can study safely at night and complete homework without risk.

Support the solar lights program:

Because of supporters like you, we launched a computer lab at Kamakwie Secondary School in 2022.

Donations helped renovate the room and provide:
- Workstations and chairs
- Cooling fans
- Projector and loudspeakers
- A repaired donated generator

Students now have a dedicated space to build digital skills and complete schoolwork with confidence.

More than half of 15-year-olds in Sierra Leone cannot read or write.
Girls face higher dropout rates due to poverty and social pressures.

Develop Africa tracked the academic progress of 10 scholarship students across Freetown, Bo, and Kamawornie.
