Today is day 1 of Simbang Gabi.
I just want to share something from the homily.

The homily is about being honest without being harsh.
We are encouraged to tell the truth, not to hurt, but to heal.
Speak because you care.
Speak because you love.
Truth said with love, builds.
Truth said without love, wounds.
In Bicol, “Kutsaraon mo, dae pag kamuton”.

I was reminded that honesty is not about winning an argument, or proving a point.
It’s about love.
There are moments when we want to tell the truth, but our words come out sharp.
We forget that words cut deeper than knives. Once spoken, they cannot be taken back.

The homily taught me that we don’t have to lie to be kind.
We call called ti speak the truth, but do it gently, in a gentle way.
I know it’s easier said than done, but don’t allow our emotions to dictate us.
To speak because we care, not because we want to make someone feel that we are better than them.
To correct someome because we love, not because we want to hurt them.

So today, I choose to be honest, while still being gentle ❤️
