As soon as there is a chill in the air, you must try this this classic Crumb Cake recipe! After making this cake for the last 15 years, here are the foolproof tips for the best tasting (and looking crumb cake!) #1 if you are U.S.A based, use salted American Butter (Land O' Lakes will give you the best flavor) if outside the U.S.A use unsalted butter. #2 Beat the sugar and butter until pale in color and nice and fluffy! (Most people cruise through the step, and you'll get a fluffier cake if your butter is nice and fluffy! #3: Use an ice cream scoop to scoop the batter, then connect the "batter balls" into a single layer with an offset spatula. This will ensure nice even layers in between the cinnamon filling. #4 It may look like a TON of crumb topping! But it sets and settles into the batter as the cake bakes, just be sure to distribute it evenly. Serve this cake just slightly warm and later store on your counter to continue to enjoy it at room temperature (don't refrigerate it or it will loose it's fluffy texture!) My husband and I moved from Los Angeles to a small French Town with a population of 8,000 full-time residents. It’s a small town, so you can’t leave your house and think you'll remain anonymous; you'll run into at least a few people you know anytime you go anywhere. The last time our college-age daughter came to visit she says, “This place is like a college campus?!” the comment really made me laugh out loud, because it does feel like living on a “campus”, you run into lots of people you know, shop, eat and relax all at the same places, the same people, everyday through every season with no “graduation day” in sight (when you all will go your separate ways). And truly, it was one of the most unexpected parts of moving here, and I have to say, one of the best parts too!
