With all the recent talk about gatekeepers suppressing rock and metal (if you saw that Billy Corgan interview), I want to try a different path forward.

I’ve finished building an MP3 & WAV digital download store on my website. This is for anyone who would like to support Into The Ether directly and collect their favorite tracks for personal, offline listening.

I’ve added an initial batch of the most viewed and liked songs in my catalog, and I’ll continue adding more over time. I’ll also take requests—if your favorite isn’t there yet, you can email me at music@intotheether.net or leave a comment on this post.

🎵 Why offer digital downloads?

The reason I decided to do this came from thinking about gatekeepers (record labels) and middlemen (streaming platforms). Doesn’t it make more sense for artists to distribute their music directly to the people who believe in it?

The first time I heard about DIY was through independent punk rock musicians in the ’90s, but its roots go back to the ’60s and ’70s. It was a mindset—handling everything yourself: writing, recording, promotion, artwork, zines… everything.

That idea stuck with me. I like the idea of being truly independent right now—working with the platforms I have, sharing my music freely, and making it available to anyone who connects with it and wants to support the project.

After hearing so many stories over the years about artists being taken advantage of in the corporate music world, I feel fortunate to be in a position where I can share my music on my own terms—without contracts or obligations.

Especially now, with changes happening in distribution platforms, I want to make sure I maintain full control over my music and how it’s shared.

🎵 ANNIVERSARY MONTH OF MY FIRST MUSIC VIDEO - FEB 26TH!

On February 26th, 2025 I posted my very first music video 'Rise Again'. In a year, if you watch that first until now, it's clear I've learned a lot. To then celebrate my 200th video I 'remade' and 'remastered' the same song 'Rise Again' and updated the music video with all the things I learned up until that point. It's good to reflect and every day I'm grateful for everyone who watches, likes, subscribes and comments!

I've noticed lately, some of the more recent songs I've posted the video idea I had was more involved so it is taking me a considerably longer time to gather all the pieces and footage I need for the video and then to manually edit them in my video editing program to get them perfect. So bear with me if I don't upload for more then 4 days...it's for good reason 😄🙌

I had some new design ideas for my merch shop for my apparel and stickers and I really like how they turned out! I ordered some so I'll share pictures on my Instagram when they arrive. I've started to prepare an EP's worth of songs to release on a physical CD. As you may be aware, I use different vocals on my songs depending on what style or feeling I am after. So I've decided for my first EP I'll collect songs from a single voice to tell a single story.

I'm calling the EP 'After Ashes'.

Hello! Wanted to send a quick note, that I re-posted my new song and video 'Carried by Fate'! I originally launched it this morning, and noticed (of course after publishing it) that some of my clips and cuts were wrong and the pacing was off with the musicians playing footage! Yikes! I check my videos 1000 times (I'm' not exaggerating lol) and never caught it. I couldn't let that stand! We are 2 months away from the anniversary of the first Into The Ether music video I posted in 2025 (2/26/2025) and it's one of those moments when the new year hits when you reflect that you are glad you started and I very much am.

Here are some updates on what I'm doing and what I plan on doing for the month of January! But first a few reflections from December.

🎵 FEATURED ON MY LOCAL RADIO STATION 105.7 the X IN DECEMBER!
My local radio station 105.7 the X has a 'Your 15 Minutes' show hosted by Hawaiian Chris James and he featured 2 of my songs 'Bury The Ashes' and 'The Shape of Your Silence' on his show! He compared my music saying 'If you like Sleep Token you'll love this' 🎵 I appreciate he has a show like this to help independent music get out there. He also mentioned my music videos that I make for my songs too during the show and told people they should check them out! That was exciting, I didn't expect him to mention those at all so I appreciated that a lot! So for anyone who heard it and found my YouTube channel, I made a playlist of the 2 songs featured so it's easy to find and click on them to look at!

🎵 UPDATE - I ENTERED SOME CONTESTS!
I applied for 'The Webby Awards' and 'DevPost.com - Chroma Awards (hosted by ElevenLabs)' So far Chroma Awards are over. All 7 of my entries are in their gallery as first round picks, but didn't place in any of the categories. In January though they are going to release 'honorable mentions' to whoever made it to the 2nd round so I'll update you if I'm listed.🎵 UPDATE 1/9: Nope, not listed LOL What the contest taught me though is boy I've just scratched the surface of what I can make with the technology I use to make my music videos. Such storytelling tools at my finger tips! So my goal for this year is to try different video formats on my videos to really tell the story of the song so I'm very much looking forward to making improvements there! 🎵
After seeing entrants, which were amazing, I'm inspired to get better and better at my music videos just seeing what this video technology is capable of I hope to get better by season 2 of the competition to enter again!

So, a month or so back I saw being advertised a couple award competitions I could enter my music videos into so I thought why not! So I applied for 'The Webby Awards' and 'DevPost.com - Chroma Awards (hosted by ElvenLabs)' So wish me luck! Winners for Chroma are being release in December and the Webby Awards nominees/Winners are announced April 2026.


🎵 NEW CHRISTMAS SONG - UNDER THE CHRISTMAS SKY
I enjoyed making my Halloween song, so I decided then to also make a Christmas song! It's called 'Under the Christmas Sky'. I'll be launching it mid December. I hope you like it as much as I do!

This is an open question for anyone who follows my channel. I've bought the occasional MP3 from my favorite artists, but I'm curious if that is something you do too? I have started building a store for my own music but wanted to ask for thoughts from all of you to see if people in general still buy mp3s of songs they like to support independent artists? Let me know in the comments of this posts what you think. Thanks!

🎵 AGAIN, FOCUS ON MUSIC AND VIDEOS THIS MONTH! NEW MONITORS!
Again this month, I'm just going to keep December simple, and just focus on making music and videos of all the great songs I want to share that I hope you will like too! Now that I have new studio monitors (and studio monitor headphones) I can hear a difference in the sound quality! I never realized just how much of a difference it would make so once I learned more about them I got a pair and so glad I did! Better late then never. I want my music to sound and be mixed the best as it can!

As of today though it feels like I can continue doing what I'm doing depending on what type of video I think the song needs. Practically speaking, if I don't have enough credits on the tools I'm using I sometimes don't have a choice and need to use what I have until my credits renew LOL


🎵 FOCUS ON MUSIC AND VIDEOS THIS MONTH!
With October being one of the busiest months that I ever recall not even being able to post my normally first of the month post for the month on 11/1...yikes! I'm going to keep November simple, and just focus on making and sharing videos of all the great songs I have that I hope you will like too!


🎵 250th MILESTONE REMAKE: Hollowed Light
I love this music journey so want to almost 'create' milestones for myself to celebrate. I loved remaking 'Rise Again' last month when I hit 200 so thought I'd plan for every 50th video going back into my catalog to find songs I loved but didn't get the video I think they deserved since I didn't have the tools I have now back then. So for 250, I've decided to 'remaster' the song (I added new background vocals, subtle cellos, guitar and drum parts), and a new video with lip-syncing. I hope you like it as much as I do!
