The patent that started it all in 1942, and revolutionised domestic electrical appliance technology. This assembly of bimetallic thermostat was originally designed for irons, but I have seen this installed in in space heaters, ovens and other things.
As the patent expired on the 30th June 1959 it’s clear that the design has been adopted nationally by thousands of companies specialising in mass production of appliances.
