Hi! My name is Melissa. I'm a self-taught seamstress living just outside of Philadelphia. I started sewing in 2012 and taught myself using YouTube and Google as my instructors. Now, I enjoy making costumes for myself and my clients. My true love is historical costuming and I’ve experimented with Renaissance, Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian. I’ve also made several hats for those eras. I can truly dress you from “Hat to Hem”!

I uploaded my first round of videos between 2015 and 2017. They were all quick time-lapse videos and were just meant as ways for me to be able to look back at how I made certain items, kinda like a virtual sewing bible. I launched my business in 2018 and started making a whole new batch of videos! I post video diaries, sew-alongs/tutorials, and I have some costume drama videos planned.

I usually upload every other Friday.

Thanks for visiting!

Hi, everyone.

I just wanted to pop in and say I won't be back until 2024. I'm also pausing my Patreon until I come back.

I'm looking forward to posting again, but it just isn't possible right now. Thank you for the views and recent comments! I'll (hopefully) see you soon!

In case you missed it over the weekend, I made Erika's dress from Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper! I've loved this dress since 2004. There were ups and downs to the process and I hope you enjoy it!

And be sure to check out ‪@HistoricalBelle‬ for a historically accurate version!

There WILL be a video this weekend, but between 1. Being away for half of last week, 2. Getting a decent-sized kidney stone that resulted in an ER visit and followup appointment, 3. Work picking up for the first time all summer, and 4. the little guy needing a little extra comfort to get to sleep tonight, I'm behind on editing. I have to finish adding music, completely edit the reveal at the end, color correction, thumbnail, and description. I'll see you soon...ish.

Hi! I do have a new video this week, but it won't be uploaded until Saturday. It's a good one though and I'm particularly proud of the pictures I took for the reveal at the end!

With less than a day until we were leaving, I decided to update my Danielle Work Dress from last year. Watch my video to see how some simple changes completely transform this costume from Peasant to Princess!

Hi! Unfortunately, there will be no video this week. I don't have a voice which makes recording voiceover a bit difficult. Hopefully the next video will be out soon!

New video is out! I finally recreated viewer-selected gown from the Victorian Dressmaker! This one was a long time coming. I started filming it in August 2020! This video spans two years, since I worked on it between other projects and major life events. I hope you enjoy it!
