Ever feel like your jazz solos sound “correct”… but not moving?

That was me—until I discovered minor conversion.

Here’s the idea:

👉 Instead of soloing over a major 7 chord (like Cmaj7) with the usual major scale, you pretend it’s the relative minor—in this case, A minor.

Now suddenly you’ve got:

Stronger voice leading

More melodic tension

That lyrical, soulful sound you hear in great recordings

Try this:
Over Cmaj7, think A minor.
Over Gmaj7, think E minor.
Over Ebmaj7, think C minor.

You’ll unlock deeper phrasing and access to vocabulary you already know.

🎧 It’s how I started sounding less like a scale robot… and more like the records I love.
