Welcome to Feral Farm. To be honest, it's just a regular home, located in a sleepy coastal town where the forest meets the sea in Oregon. We have been blessed with a colony of feral cats that we now tend and take care of. Buddy, a solid black cat, came just before my Maine coon died and I declared that I didn't want anymore pets. This lucky black cat blessed us with 3 litters before we could trap him and have him neutered. A total of 18 kittens that we were able to home, keeping one for ourselves. One of his offspring that we have been unable to trap, has had 2 litters, weaning one now, and is showing signs of a third. I made this channel to document and share some of our experiences with these feral cats, encounters with the forest world, the sea world, and a lot of cat videos. I was really ready to give up having cats in my life and the more I said no, the more cats that began to show up. I was unfamiliar with feral cats and am learning more, every day, here on Feral Farm.

It has been about 8 weeks since Josie went to the vet. She had a litter of 8 black kittens. We are going to try and see her today, hopefully she still remembers me.

Have had a couple of rough weeks, threw back out trapping kittens, got hacked so our computers are in shop and having to change all our cards and info, but this little angel is buffering all that. Hope to be back up and going again real soon. Lot's of kitty content to sort, edit an upload.

The last couple of days have been so emotional. After feeling Thursday was doing well enough to go back out, we released all 5 kittens, including Tuesday. I had no idea what he would decide to do. Go back with his siblings and the outdoor life they were born into or stay inside with me. All I can say is the choice left me a little heartbroken. After 7 weeks of being indoors he stepped back outside and stayed. Talk about empty nest syndrome. Without 5 high energy kittens inside the stillness was almost more than we could take.
The next morning, they all came for breakfast. I don't know what happened but they all seemed a bit jumpy, especially Tuesday. He was jumping at the slightest sound or movement and my heart began to jump with him. What happened in the night to create such unrest? Is he gonna come back to wanting inside? Or is he where he is supposed to be? I could see when they were all together he was their leader. I guess the coming days will tell their story. Till then I can only accept and adjust to what is today.

Today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all stepped outside. Tuesday came back shortly and we've never been able to get Friday to leave the nursery. Of course, he doesn't have to leave. And my Feral Life continues, happily.

An update on our black feral mom. She was trapped July 22 and taken to vet. Got a call yesterday telling us she had 8 black kittens. That would have put us at 22 cats, 13 black ones. So grateful the kittens will be cared for and found homes. Josie will stay with them for 8 weeks, be spayed and then returned to Feral Farm.

Anxiously awaiting 3 little boys and 2 little girls. I got the room set back up for Tuesday's siblings. Hoping they will like being indoors and lavished with human love and affection. The vet said all went well and all are healthy little kitties. It was a very quiet day. I got to have some rest. Now, that the trapping is over, 🤞we won't have that hanging over us and we won't have to worry about them populating. That should help ease the tension and stress and allow us to just care for our little colony. I really can't wait to get Tuesday back in the house. That little kitty has a huge presence. Can't wait to see how they grow.

I was able to trap Josie, the mother cat of Tuesday and get her to the vet for spaying. Trapping is not for everyone, I did have some difficulties and ultimately got it done. The vet had called before I got home to tell me she was going to have another litter of kittens and they wanted to house her during that time. After the kittens have been weaned they will spay her and then bring her back. Very grateful to them for we really couldn't take on any more. If money was no issue that would be a different tale. It is hard to care for the ones we have now. And I see Monday at the door now. I just wanted to share what we felt like was very good news about Josie.
I will be posting a video soon on using a live trap and a drop trap. Now that I've used them both it may be a little easier to trap the kittens this week.
