Last year, I shoved my driveway by hand. It's a long, gravel driveway... 125 feet, and that was a lot of shovelling. During that winter, I listened to a local radio show called "All About the House", where Dave, the second generation owner of Bill's Repair, talked about the improvements in battery technology in the home and garden industry. He talked about the differences between battery operated snowblowers and gas. There are pros and cons to each. As a homeowner versus a contractor who clears snow, battery operated snowblowers are ideal... so this fall, I went to Smith's Falls to meet Dave at his business, Bill's Repair.

After some discussion with Dave about my property, I bought this 24 inch dual stage self-propelled snowblower made by Greenworks. These are available retail, but by buying it from a Greenworks dealer, it comes with 6 amp hour batteries instead of 4 amp hour batteries - this means longer run time.

I bought it home, parked it in my garage, and impatiently waited for snow. We got our first snowfall in December and I started to appreciate this great machine. I made this video to show why battery snowblowers are better than gas. I had no interest in dealing with stale gas, spark plugs, draining fuel, oil changes, etc. I just wanted it to work every time I wanted to use it. Oh man, does this work! Just push the start button, and away I go.

I'm now spending much less time shovelling and more time doing what I love - working in my workshop! I hope you enjoy this video and let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks! Scott

You don't want to miss this video! https://youtu.be/m13ieOVFJko We had to remove 4 dangerously close trees at our house. I filmed how these professionals do their work, their cool machines, and trees crashing to the ground. It was amazing to watch and I'm excited to share it with you.

Why did we cut these trees down? One was leaning towards the house and caused us a lot of concern during the recent ice storm. Some of them were starting to have structural problems. All of them were too close to the house as Steve, the owner of Aussie Tree Care explains in the video. I even found tree roots under the basement floor.
