I'm a tool fanatic and love sharing my passion for tools! I hope to help you make better buying decisions.
Hi, I'm Matt Outlaw. I’ve been working in the trades since 1995, with experience in general construction, carpentry, woodworking, and more. Now, as a full-time YouTuber, my mission is to help woodworkers like you make informed, confident decisions on tools and improve your woodworking skills. Whether it’s through honest tool reviews or practical woodworking tips, or helping you make money woodworking, I’m here to support your craft every step of the way.
Wondering where we got the name 731 Woodworks? It’s a nod to my wife and I's anniversary on July 31st. The anchor in our logo? That comes from Hebrews 6:19, symbolizing the hope we have!

Tomorrow is the day… 🔨
For the last few days, I've been teasing something big coming September 1st.
Today I can finally share more detail on what it is: "The First Cut" - a community built specifically for woodworkers who want to sell their projects but don't know where to start.
If you've ever built something and thought "I wonder if I could sell this" but got stuck on "would anyone buy this?", "how do I price it?", or "who do I sell it to?"... this is for you.
Over the past 2 years, I've helped 1000's of woodworkers get their first sale and beyond (Success stories are in this post below). They all started exactly where you might be right now - loving woodworking but not knowing how to make money from it.
The First Cut Community will give you the same exact step-by-step plan that the woodworkers below used to start their business, know what to sell, how to price it, and how to get their first sale in less than 30 days, alongside a supportive community with me, my team, and other woodworkers to grow & learn together - to finally start your business & get your first sale.
And the price is going to be accessible for anybody, from anywhere in the world.
Plus, the people who join during this launch window (September 1st-3rd) are getting 25% off, and 3 exclusive bonuses. I’ll be revealing what the bonuses are over the next few days, but what I can say is that they are better than a piece of sandpaper, but not as good as a festool domino.
If this is something you're interested in, Click This Link to add this to your own google calendar so you don’t miss it.
I’m so excited to see how many lives we can change. calendar.google.com/calendar/u/2?cid=Y18xMWQ5YzgxN…
More details coming soon.
P.S. - Below are a bunch of woodworkers I’ve helped sell their projects in the last month or so using these strategies that will be inside The First Cut:

3 things I learned helping 1500+ people sell projects:
Over the past few years, I’ve helped over 1,500+ woodworkers successfully sell their woodworking projects (I attached some success stories from people we have worked with for just this week below)
And I've noticed three things that separate the ones who get sales quickly from the ones who stay stuck:
1. They sell locally first. The fastest path to your first sale isn't Etsy or building a website. It's Facebook Marketplace, local Facebook groups, and word of mouth through friends and family. Less competition, faster sales, no shipping headaches.
2. They don't overthink it. While others are watching YouTube videos about "the perfect shop setup," successful sellers are building simple projects with the tools they have and posting them for sale, or letting people know they have them. Action beats perfection every time.
3. They pick proven products. Instead of building whatever they feel like, they focus on items that consistently sell well - planters, cutting boards, simple furniture pieces. Sounds generic right? Boring? Maybe. Profitable? Absolutely. (if done correctly)
The difference is they are not simply “copying” every other woodworker, they are taking proven products & making them unique and/or better than others.
Here's what else I've learned: Having a community of like-minded people has made all the difference. When you're surrounded by others doing the same thing, learning & sharing what works and what doesn't from people who have done it before, or doing it now, everything moves faster.
That's exactly why I built The First Cut, which is launching September 1st (3 days away).
It's designed to give you everything you need to get your first sale - the products, the pricing strategies, the selling templates, and most importantly, a community of woodworkers all working toward the same goal, with support from me & my team.
It’s what I wish I had when I started woodworking 7 years ago & more.
So, from September 1st - September 3rd, We are doing a special 25% off Early Bird Discount, and giving away 3 exclusive bonuses for the people who join during this window.
I’ll reveal what the bonuses are in the next few days, but what I can say is that they are better than a piece of sandpaper, but not as good as a Festool domino.
Plus, the price to join is affordable for anybody.
I truly believe this is going to help 1000’s more woodworkers sell their projects, and I am so excited to launch this & help more people.
More details coming in a few days, be on the lookout!

Something big is coming out September 1st 👀
I’ve been working on this behind the scenes for months, and I am excited to reveal what we have come up with.
If you've ever thought "I'd love to make some money with my woodworking" but didn't know where to start, what to build, or how to get someone to actually buy your work - September 1st changes everything.
Over the past 2 years, I've helped thousands of woodworkers get their first sale. Some just bought new tools. Others built profitable side businesses. A few went full-time. (I attached some success stories from the last few days of people me & my team are helping to this post)
I won’t share all the details yet, but I will say this: It's going to be affordable for anyone, and it's specifically designed to help you get your first sale - even if you don’t have a bunch of tools, or work full-time.
I’m so excited to see how many lives are going to change from this…
Mark your calendar. September 1st. More details coming soon 🔨
