For context, someone's been making a fan made continuation of OG SMBZ recently. I just watched Episode 9 and then this one...not bad actually! There's definitely some sauce here and there, fight scenes are original and their pace is quick and snappy.

Even if animation isn't on par with the original (not even a bad thing to me at this point in my life), some shots and transitions were very creative. I especially loved the one at 13:47 in Episode 10.

Writing wise, it's what we come to expect, but there were some genuinely charming and funny moments, like the Koopa General ignoring Bowser and just telling everything to Sonic.

As far as SMBZ fan made continuations go, I'd say this is the first one ever to be above average, it managed to be decently entertaining from start to finish. Definitely reccomend it to you guys.

However, I could easily tell this was a fan made continuation because it made Peach useful.

If anyone's been curious as to why I disappeared for 2 months, I'm working on my own sprite series. That's all I'm gonna say.

It's been a while since my last video so I figured that I'd share an update through this post.

1. The Mask Retrospective is going slow, but it's going. I'm around 14 minutes of editing in and it's still just the intro and the first two episodes.

2. Why so slow? Some of you know that I've been additionally working on a Mario sprite series in the background (I'm intentionally not revealing much because I'd like to finish the episode first instead of revealing countless snippets that spoil the whole thing) because of this, everyday has been a battle of deciding which one to work on.

3. I'm considering releasing smaller 5 minute videos during this period, I've got some ideas that go outside sprite animations too.

Despite all this, Merry Late Christmas to those that celebrate it!

Update: Turns out Smashinity is just remaking the first 6 SMBDX Episodes and will keep animating Episode 7..still counts as a reboot.

Having seen the preview and knowing what's happening on the background, this shit has already started going downhill:

-Bluer Sonic is a sprite artist whose Mecha Sonic/Metallix sheets have been uncredited multiple times from Smashinity before, it has gone to the point where Bluer outright banned Smashinity from using anything he makes. If you all look at the preview's description, he credits Bluer. One step forward, two steps back.

-It doesn't really seem that nothing has changed when comparing this new remake to the old SMBDX, the dialogue bloat is still there, the gore is still there, metarex (SERIOUSLY BTW??) yapping is still there, the shitty premise is still there. What a waste of time and effort.

Apparently Mr. Smashinity is rebooting SMBDX again, this whole thing is nothing short but laughable. Decided to be a bit more original with Episode 6 and quit. It's not so easy now, is it?

I should note that it's not the first time he has made an apology like this, back in 2019 when he went by SmasherBlock, he did the exact same thing as he did now, there's only so many times you can forgive a liar. Do better.
