“God of Hope, we need it right now. We need it to comfort crushed spirits that can no longer survive without it.
May we have the courage to trust you, even in the uncertainty of the moment. To trust your fidelity and character as the one who has always held the heart of His people.
Lord, somewhere in this country, there’s a family weeping the loss of their beloved. Somewhere in the country, there’s a family wrapped in blankets huddling around a candle, praying that the lights come back on before dawn. And somewhere in this country there’s a person feeling alone, afraid and completely unsure of where we go from here.
Tonight, we need the God of Hope. To remind us of who we are. That we are a people of promise. A people that carried your hope for 400 hundred years in the darkness, and who can carry it again through this night.
And in our distress, we pray that we might feel the warmth of your compassion, the solace of your peace and see the light of your hope. And even in the cold of this dark night, we trust the God of Hope will guide us home, now and forever more. Amen”
