Every year, millions of women fast for their husband’s long life on Karwa Chauth.
But do you know where this tradition truly began?
Let’s go back — to the story from the Puranas where it all started…

Everyone knows the fast.
But only few know the story written in the Puranas. 📜

Long ago, there lived a queen named Veeravati. 👸
On her first Karwa Chauth after marriage,
she fasted all day — without food or water —
praying for her husband’s long life. 🙏

By evening, weak and faint, she was tricked by her brothers.
They lit a lamp behind a tree, making it look like the moon had risen. 🌙
Believing it real, Veeravati broke her fast —
and in that very moment… her husband fell lifeless. 💔

Heartbroken, she cried out to Maa Parvati, the Divine Mother.
The Goddess appeared and said —

“Your devotion is pure, my child.
But your vow was broken before its time.
Keep it again, and your husband shall live.” 🌸

Veeravati kept the fast again with unwavering faith —
and her husband came back to life by Maa Parvati’s blessing. ✨

Since that day, women have observed Karwa Chauth —
a sacred vow of faith, purity, and eternal love. 💞

🪔 May Maa Parvati bless every marriage with strength, harmony, and devotion.
