Hearts, Brave and True

Hearts Brave and True invites families on a thrilling journey through the first millennium of Christianity—from 33 AD, just after Christ’s Resurrection, to 1054 AD, on the eve of the Great Schism—when the Church stood as one. These are the stories of saints for EVERY Christian of faith.

In each short, animated episode, young viewers meet saints whose courage, compassion, and faith shaped the growing Church: from valiant martyrs and healers to humble servants and steadfast witnesses. Through vivid storytelling and gentle narration, children and parents will discover timeless lessons in bravery, kindness, and prayer—and be inspired to let their own lives reflect these holy examples.

PLEASE email us at heartsbraveandtrue@gmail.com with suggestions of saints lives you would like to see made into a Hearts Brave and True tale. We will be coming out with a new saint story every Wednesday and Sunday, so keep checking back!

Hearts, Brave and True

Today, January 18th, we commemorate Saint Athanasius the Great.
Defender of the truth of Christ. Faithful teacher of the Church. A man who endured exile, danger, slander, and loss, not once, but again and again, for the sake of love and truth.
As we worked on his story, we were struck by just how rich and vast the life of Saint Athanasius truly is. His years in exile, his defense of the Creed, his love for the Church, and his quiet endurance are truly astonishing.
In fact, his life contains so much depth that it easily could have become an hour-long story.
We shared what we could, but we would love to know from you:

👉 Would you want to hear a full-length, expanded telling of Saint Athanasius’ life, with even more detail, history, and spiritual depth?
Your feedback helps guide what stories we bring next.
Saint Athanasius the Great, pray for us!

🌿 January 14 – Feast of Saint Nina of Georgia 🌿
Today we celebrate Saint Nina (Nino), Equal-to-the-Apostles and Enlightener of Georgia, a young woman whose faith changed the heart of an entire nation.
Armed with nothing but her grapevine cross, bound together with her own hair, Saint Nina traveled far from her homeland to bring the light of Christ to the people of Georgia. Through humility, courage, prayer, and love, she softened hardened hearts, healed the sick, and gently led kings and queens toward the True Faith.
Saint Nina did not rule by power or force, she conquered through steadfast trust in Christ. Her life reminds us that God often works His greatest wonders through quiet faithfulness and brave obedience.
Because of her, Georgia became a Christian nation, and her legacy continues to shine across generations.
Holy Saint Nina, pray for us, and teach us to carry Christ wherever we are sent.

✨ Commemorated December 18th: Saints Sebastian & Zoe

Today is a deeply special day for our family, the shared feast day of our patron saints, Saint Sebastian and Saint Zoe.

It’s hard to put into words what it means to walk under the protection and prayers of two saints whose stories are so beautifully intertwined.

Sebastian… the steadfast soldier of Christ.

Zoe… the noblewoman whose silent voice was restored by faith.
And their fearless companions, who chose Christ even when it meant their lives.

Their courage didn’t come from strength or rank, it came from the love of God, and from the way each of them lifted the faith of another. Sebastian strengthened Zoe. Zoe inspired Nicostratus. Their companions encouraged one another. One brave soul ignited another… until whole households, and even whole cities, were transformed.

That’s the miracle of the saints: not just what they did, but what they awaken in us.

We pray that, like them, our own family may bring others to Christ simply by loving boldly, praying faithfully, and standing firm in hope, together.

🌟 Saints Sebastian, Zoe, and their holy companions… pray for us!
🙏 Guide our family and all who honor your feast today.

If you’d like to hear their powerful story, one of courage, miracles, and unshakable love for Christ — we shared it here on our channel:

✨ Feast Day of Saint Theophanó

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Theophanó, the gentle and holy Byzantine empress whose compassion shone brightest when no one was watching. She cared for the poor in secret, prayed for those who suffered, and carried her crown with humility and grace.

This feast is especially dear to our family, because today is also our goddaughter’s namesday. May her life always be surrounded by the same quiet mercy and tender strength that Saint Theophanó embodied so beautifully.

As we enter the heart of the Nativity season, may we all learn from this Empress of Compassion, giving not for recognition, but out of love. A kind word, a warm meal, a prayer for someone forgotten… these are the hidden gifts that brighten the world.

If you’d like to share this holy story with your family, here is our new illustrated episode of Saint Theophanó :

May her blessed feast fill your home with peace, compassion, and the quiet joy of Christ.

Saint Spyridon l The Saint Who Still Walks l Commemorated Today December 12th:

Saint Spyridon of Trimythous is known across the Christian world as “the Saint who still walks.” His prayers stopped rivers, calmed storms, healed the sick, and even raised the dead. But the mystery that amazes the faithful to this day is this: the shoes on his incorrupt body still wear out, centuries after his repose.
Every year, the clergy in Corfu replace his slippers, because countless faithful Christians believe that Saint Spyridon continues to walk the earth, helping those who cry out to him in faith.

Hearts, Brave and True

✨ Happy Feast of St. Nicholas! ✨
This Morning, our home is full of excitement as our six little ones with bright eyes and cheerful hearts, received a visit from the gentle saint who has blessed Christian families for centuries. Coins overflowing from their shoes, special gifts that warmed their hearts. It’s a simple tradition, but one that fills our house with a quiet kind of magic… the kind born not from getting, but from giving.
On this day, Christians all over the world:
Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Anglican & Episcopal, Lutheran, Byzantine & Eastern Catholic, and Old Calendar Orthodox (Dec 19),
come together to honor Saint Nicholas of Myra, the humble bishop whose secret acts of mercy inspired the gift-giving traditions we cherish today.
St. Nicholas reminds us that generosity is not a performance; it is a quiet offering given in love.
Long before stockings, sleigh bells, or snowy legends, there was a bishop who slipped through the night to help the poor, defend the innocent, protect sailors, and comfort the suffering, never asking for thanks, never seeking a reward, only pointing every heart toward Christ.
As our children enjoy their little surprises this morning and prepare for Liturgy, we remind them that all our giving, whether shoes filled with treats, presents beneath a tree, or acts of kindness throughout the year, find their roots in the hidden generosity of St Nicholas, the gifts of the Wise Men to our precious Lord, and the Ultimate Gift of Christ Himself.
May this feast fill your home with warmth, joy, and a renewed spirit of kindness.
May the prayers of St. Nicholas guide every family, every child, every traveler, and every heart seeking peace.
Blessed Feast of St. Nicholas to you and your loved ones!
May we learn to give in secret, love without measure,
and seek our true reward in the Kingdom of Heaven. ✨🕯️🎁
