Hey guys,

I know it’s been a while. You may have noticed that I haven’t been uploading as consistently as I used to and my content style has changed. I promise I’ll explain why in a minute.

In the time I’ve been pulling away from YouTube, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things regarding my channel.
First off, the fact that I gained hundreds of thousands of subscribers from put a finger down videos just feels wrong to me. All I did was record lazy reactions to the videos that other people made and gained almost 400k subscribers from it. I feel as though I didn’t earn any of those subscribers.
I built this platform on lazy reaction content and I hate that fact. I started making put a finger down videos when in January of this year and saw that they were gaining WAY more views than my relatable shorts/shorts I wanted to make. I went on to make hundreds of put a finger down videos in the 9 months that I pursued this. YouTube would only push these videos out into the algorithm, causing some of them to amass over 10 million views.
Honestly, the “fame” got to my head. I say “fame” because despite my channel having hundreds of thousands of subscribers, no one really knows who I am. I’ve only seen people talk about me as the “put a finger down girl” once or twice. That’s not who I want to be known as.
I want to be known as me, Bree Moore. I want to be known for my music and occasional shorts that make people smile. I want to break away from the “put a finger down girl” name.

With all that being said, I’ve made the decision to stop posting put a finger down videos. I’ll definitely lose views, subscribers, and revenue but none of that matters to me. I didn’t earn those subscribers. For now, I will keep the videos up on YouTube. However, this is likely to change. To the majority of you who subscribed from these put a finger down videos, feel free to unsubscribe if that’s the content you’re looking for. If you want to stick around to see what I have in store for the future, that’s awesome and I really appreciate you! <3

I also got a reality check when applying for a YouTube creator award the other day. I finally decided to apply to get a creator award since I surpassed 100k subscribers back in May. I didn’t know why I expected to get one, but that’s beside the point.
My request for a YouTube creator award was denied because YouTube labeled my channel as “Deceptive and Spammy.” I immediately knew why they labeled it this way, because of my put a finger down videos.
I will be eligible to apply again in 90 days but it was still upsetting to find out that I was ineligible for an award, despite my low effort videos.
This is another huge factor that plays into why I won’t be posting any more put a finger down videos.

Now why have I been posting less and less?
Well, to put it simply, I’ve been losing my passion for YouTube. For the past 2 months, posting has felt more like a chore than a fun hobby.
Another reason as to why I haven’t been posting is because my mental health has been rapidly declining since school started. I feel as though I’ve lost passion for everything I used to love such as making music and singing, theatre, baking, and of course, YouTube.
I’m sharing this because I think it’s important to be open and honest with you guys.

Now I think it’s time I let you guys know that I’ll be taking a break from YouTube. This break may range from a few months to over a year. I may never post again but who really knows. I’m not exactly sure if or when I’ll get better.

It’s unlikely, but if I never post again, I just want to say I’m sorry and I love you all so very much. Thank you for everything.
