Luck and risk are both the reality that every outcome in life is guided by forces other than individual effort. Sometimes, they are so similar that you can’t believe in one without equally respecting the other. They both happen because the world is not that sweet to allow 100% of your actions to dictate 100% of your outcomes. But they are driven by the exact same thing and just two sides of the same coin. You are one person in a game with seven billion other people and infinite moving parts. The accidental impact of actions outside of your control can be more consequential than the ones you consciously take. But the biggest problem is that both are so hard to measure and harder to accept, that they too often go overlooked.
This is a story of how Microsoft Lost it’s founder before the company even began! And yes, it was a game of luck and risk that caused the fortunate & the unfortunate events that resulted in the creation of Microsoft.
