I’m incredibly grateful to Aha Media and the talented students at Columbus College of Art & Design who brought a piece of my family’s story to life through animation, and especially the story of my grandmother.

My grandmother Hedy survived Auschwitz. The strength it took for her to survive, rebuild a life, raise a family, and keep moving forward has always been a part of the story I inherited.

Obviously, the ups and downs of working in animation are nothing compared to what she endured. But I do think her strength shaped something in me: a survival mindset. An ability to get knocked down, regroup, adapt, and keep going.

And if you work in this absurd, unpredictable industry, you know there is a lot of getting knocked down. Careers don’t move in straight lines. Shows get made and shows disappear. Opportunities arrive and evaporate. There are moments when you feel like everything is finally happening, followed by moments when you wonder what on earth you’re going to do next.

But somewhere deep inside me is this stubborn little voice that says: Okay. So what do we do now? How do we keep going?

I know where at least some of that comes from.

I’m so grateful to Aha Media and to the students at Columbus College of Art & Design for the thought, artistry, and care they put into bringing my grandmother’s story and my family’s history to the screen.

I wish my grandma could see it. ❤️

🦇🍓 BAT FRANNY IS COMING! 🍓🦇

Check out this adorable Bat Franny plush design (hopefully around 18-20cm) by the amazing Ruka Ito!!

We’re currently figuring out the best way to bring these little vampire bats into the real world, and the plan is to make them available through PREORDERS!

That way, we can make sure everyone who wants a Bat Franny has a chance to get one, without this tiny indie animation studio having to order a mountain of plushies upfront. 😂

More details to come as we figure out manufacturing, pricing, and timing!
