Let battle commence! I succeeded opening up the power car of the M10000. The front wasn't glued (thank heaven) and the body clips gave with the experience I gained from the other cars. I ordered some connectors male & female known as headers which are tiny in anticipation of an expansion car coming without working lights. The DCC chip is located under the board toward the front...now to order an 8 pin Loksound 5 chip to add to the fun....
This end car was a tough one, consulted the exploded diagram...no clips or screws on the dome end!!!! You guessed it, it was glued on! Most of the glue was at the apex so I started one side from the back of the dome and got it started, it then cracked to the apex. A bit more leverage and the dome finally gave...along the glue line...not for the faint hearted. There's lots of components on the board...all to be documented...
Managed to gain access to one of the M10000 cars, It's giving up it's secrets... made tougher by the factory solder mask they gunked on the board & wires to give some strain relief. I'm putting together a schematic with wire colours and pin outs. A big shout out to @UnionPacificAustralia for their help...Tomorrow, the end car...
Due to several Rapido S160's arriving this morning, so we can test them, I'm pushing the livestream back by an hour to 2pm. Hope that doesn't cause too much inconvenience...
My next mission should I choose to accept it, is to replace the standard Peco point motor and switch with a new fangled twistlock variant...Wish me luck!
