Iβm not here to argue. Iβm here to fix your heating. π οΈπ
I turned up to a job 4 hours late (according to the tenant) to find them waiting at the door ready for a fight. I had to give them a straight choice: You can either win an argument, or you can have a working boiler.

I was called to an ignition lockout. All my tests pointed to a faulty gas valve, so I replaced it. No joy. Then I tried a test PCB. Still nothing.
I was about to walk away when I happened to move my head and look 'around the corner' of the mass flow sensor. What I found was a complete freak occurrence that I never would have expected.

Look at all that sludge... so why is the boiler still failing?!π€¦π½ββοΈ π
I spent the day powerflushing a system thatβs been problematic for over a year. I pulled out a decent amount of iron oxide, take a look at those magnets!
Youβd think the job was a success, but the boiler is still struggling and throwing an F28 fault code. Iβve checked the isolation, the bypass, and the flow... but I think Iβve found the 'point of no return.'

Iβm working for free today... and itβs a tough pill to swallow...
Iβve just had to drive all the way to Enfield. This one is completely on the house, meaning Iβm not making a penny today.
I thought Iβd done everything right at the time, but clearly, something has failed. Was it the materials? Was it the method? Or did I just drop a massive clanger?
The full 'humbling' reveal drops tonight at 5.30!
POLL: Why do you think Iβm back here for free? π I used the wrong product... π A simple oversight π Component failure π I just missed something! π΅οΈββοΈ

I was convinced I knew what the fault was...but I was wrong. π€¦ββοΈπ
I had the boiler drained down, but the sensor was still reading a rock-solid 1 bar. I then kept clutching at straws, trying to avoid the 'big' job, only to find the fix was the most obvious thing imaginable.
Ran into a bit of a headache on this wiring job. The customer was struggling with a combination of Heatmiser and Hive controls. It was over-complicated, and they just wanted a simple, reliable system without needing an app for every minor adjustment.
The Solution: 1. Stripped back two unnecessary wiring centres into one clean unit. 2. Simplified the UFHβsince it was a single zone, I bypassed the individual actuators and wired it directly to the zone valve. Much cleaner. 3. Ditched the "wireless" Honeywell T6R after realizing they still need a 240v hardwire (not ideal for this specific spot!).
Final Setup: Swapped to EPH ControlsβCP4 for the UFH and CP3 for the CH. Simple, effective, and back on van stock.
The Question: Am I the only one who finds the "wireless" branding on the T6R a bit misleading for customers? Itβs wireless communication, sure, but still needs a plug/wire for power! π€¦πΎββοΈ
Whatβs your "go-to" when a customer asks for a simple, non-app thermostat?
I almost walked away from this one... πΆββοΈπ
Every test I ran on the boiler came back perfect. Strainer clear. Diverter moving. Filter clean. Yet, the boiler kept overheating every time the heating was on for more than an hour.
I was genuinely stumped until I noticed something small on the way out.
Full 'Ghost Fault' mystery drops tonight at 6 PM!
POLL: Have you ever had a boiler 'self-heal' or hide a fault from you? π Yes, it's soul-destroying! π No, I always find it eventually. π I'm dealing with one right now!
Iβm gutted. The call every engineer dreads came in this morning... 'Itβs stopped working.'
Just 48 hours after I finished that complex relay and UFH workaround for the builderβs bodge, the system has already failed.
I know the 'experts' in the comments are going to have a field day with this one. Did I over-complicate it? Is my wiring at fault?
Heading back now to face the music and find out exactly where I went wrong. Full 'Recall' video drops tonight at 5.30PM!
POLL: What do you reckon happened? π A) My wiring was wrong π B) The contactor relay failed π C) A component just died π D) The builder's ghost is sabotaging me! π»

A customer paid good money for a circulation fix. The 'pro' turned up, threw in a new Grundfos pump, took the cash, and disappeared.
