How Do Social Workers Inspire Others?

I’ve recently worked with a client who had a prolonged history of recurring falls.

Though he was not interested in Rehab services; after developing a trusting relationship, I encouraged my client to enroll in a Physical Outpatient Therapy office and take steps to regain his strength.

Additionally, I made transportation arrangements for him to attend his therapy appointments, allowing his family to have more availability to focus on other areas of his care.

I recall the first family dynamic I dealt with when I began my medical social work career.

The individual was not alert and was not competent. With many close relatives, a decision for the course of the individual's medical treatment left a negative impact on the family.

Unfortunately, the final decision led to a significant rift within the family; due to the different opinions everyone presented.

Completion of end-of-life planning would have been extremely beneficial.

Within one area, you’ll have all important decisions about your healthcare, finances, and more. Most importantly, you’ll have indicated the person you trust to fulfill your wishes on your behalf (such as a Health Care Surrogate or Power of Attorney)

It’ll be quite a challenge for anyone to argue with what you have written down in ink on valid paper 🖊️📑

2026 has officially begun!

I spent the last 24hrs in the mix of worship, love, and laughter; and also a time of self-reflection.

As I type this, currently rocking my middle child (who loves to enjoy Mama's unused lap while the youngest is sleeping 😊), I think of my "New Year" goals.

Even though it doesn't have to be a "New Year" to create goals, writing out "New Year" goals is nice to complete and reflect back on at the end of the specific "New Year".

Welcome 2026⏩Danni's New Year Goals & Objectives:

1. Try new restaurants within my surrounding area
a. Pick a monthly cuisine (Soul-food, Italian, Spanish, Indian, etc)
b. Search and visit the restaurant of choice that is related to the specific monthly cuisine.

2. Remain true to monthly spending budget
a. Every 1st day of a new month, calculate monthly budget
b. Buy with purpose
c. Write down every small & big transaction
d. Update the status of the monthly spending budget, weekly

3. Learn a new skill
a. Research skills that I find interesting
b. Narrow searched skills down, to 1 specific skill
c. Locate free or low-cost resources/tools that can be used to help me excel at the new skill

I remember during my childhood, I would participate in "Thanksgiving" plays, classroom parties, & wearing the creative headband of a Turkey with a black little hat on it.





At 33years old, I'm now learning the TRUE definition and representation of the "Thanksgiving" holiday.





While communing with loved ones and showing appreciation is one positive aspect of the National holiday, the false narrative that has been taught to generations is what has been mind-blowing.
