This is a Java tutorial channel but occasionally I upload other stuff too. I consider myself a mediocre programmer but I'm trying to get better and this channel has become a place that records my progress (you can see how noob I was if you watch my first video!).

Famitsu, Japan's long-established game media outlet, featured Zenvader on its website. Super cool!

GAME DAILY recently featured my game in their article. They also cover who I am and what I do for a living (this was the first time I talked about these things). If you're interested, please take a look!

gamedaily.com/games/zenvader-launches-on-steam-a-r…

Also, anyone who has played Zenvader, thank you so much!

I knew the game was pretty challenging, but it seems some people feel it's a bit too difficult... Although once you have learned some in-game techniques/mechanics, the game can be much easier (in fact, one expert player has beaten the campaign mode under 10 minutes, where average players takes around 20-25 minutes), but I'm also considering decreasing the difficulty a little bit for making the game more accessible (It's a tough decision... and I still can't decide it yet).
If you have any feedback, please let me know.

Thank you for your support, and have a nice weekend!

Can't believe it's already been three years since I did this NES Zelda recreation🙃
Time flies by for sure!

Developing this surely gave me some confidence to start my 2D game tutorial :)

Hi guys,

Hope you all are having a nice summer!

Sorry for the long absence. I've been taking a little break from YT to develop my own game. It's beginning to shape pretty nicely and I'm hoping to release it on Steam and itch in the near future (The game is developed in Java, of course!)

By the way, someone recently told me about this video by‪@Goodgis‬
He uploaded a nice Java game dev video and kindly mentioned me in it.

Please check his video if you're interested. His game looks nicer than mine (^^)

Cheers,

My old tutorial video "How to Make a Text-Based Adventure Game with GUI (https://youtu.be/G5yr4sekAI0)" recently reached 100K views. Although this is not the first one to hit 100K but this feels special to me.

I made this video almost 7 years ago (Feb 2017), about a year after I started the channel. At the time I got around 30 subscribers and my videos were not getting many views, around 10 to 50 per video.

I guess I can say this video was my first "hit" and thankfully many people found my channel through this video. I wasn't exactly sure why only this video was getting more views than others but it encouraged me and made me want to create more tutorial. And for years, this video kept being the "Ace" of this channel, until its position was taken by Blue Boy.

Without this video and the comments that I received through it, I might have given up making tutorial long ago. So I feel as much gratitude and affection for this video as if it is a veteran warrior who single-handedly supported me during a time when results were slow to come.

*** Guidelines for using Blue Boy Adventure's code and assets ***

Hi guys,

I often receive inquiries about showing or publishing games created using the code and assets (images/sound/editor) used in my Blue Boy Adventure tutorials, so I thought I should clarify the guidelines.

For releasing to a closed network (such as for a school project or showing it to your friends):
Basically, there are no restrictions. You are free to use my code and assets as you like. Crediting me is not required, but I would appreciate it if you do.

For releasing to a public/open platform:
There are no restrictions on publishing a game using the code in my BBA tutorial videos regardless of commercial/non-commercial use. You are free to use it, but if the code is exactly the same or very similar to the one in the tutorial, please credit me with my name. If the code has been arranged enough and contains a lot of original elements, no credit is necessary.

However, there are restrictions on the use of the assets (images, sound, etc.). For sound effects, you may use the ones I distributed as is. However, for images (characters, background tiles, etc.) and music, please replace them with different ones if you wish to publish the game on an open platform. The main reason for this is to prevent the situation that there will be multiple games that look/feel like Blue Boy Adventure which will be confusing.

The exception to this is if you are not distributing the game itself, but just showing screenshots or play footage of your game on YouTube or other social media, there are no restrictions as long as you credit my name. However, please do not copy my tutorial content verbatim and publish it as your own tutorial content.

Under any circumstances, please do not redistribute the assets themselves.

If you have any other questions, please leave a comment or contact me at my e-mail address: learningryi@gmail.com

Also, if you upload your game on an open platform such as itch.io, please let me know since I'd love to try it out! If you don't mind, I may introduce them on my channel so others can also find your game and enjoy it.

That's all. Hope this clarifies your questions!

Cheers,
RyiSnow

Sorry, I'll re-upload my new video about water transparency & animation since YouTube tells me that the music I used in the video is copyrighted. It's strange though the website (www.bensound.com/) says there's no restriction and I used the same music for my Point & Click Adventure videos and those videos are still fine. Maybe they have changed their policy since then... or something.

Anyway, I will change the music and re-upload it later. Sorry about that!

Just for fun, I tried adding a damage value to the torch and now I can create some kind of barricade and trap monsters lol
