2025 has been overwhelming, unexpected, a little scary... but also brilliant!
I started out working in an amazing role at the ABC, presenting and producing science content for young Australians. And now, somehow I'm a fully independent science communicator running my own production company (say hello to Lightning Box Media!).
Just a few of the highlights: - Going independent - it was a tough decision to leave my amazing team at the ABC but I'm excited for this next chapter, growing Lightning Box Media and taking on some really cool projects... - Making my debut on Play School, in the Science Time and Make & Create series. It's surreal to be part of this iconic Australian show with such a talented, welcoming, all-star team. - Releasing our online documentary series Hysteria, about the barriers women face in a health system designed for men, by men. Hysteria was a finalist for the Eureka Prize for Science Journalism... Congrats and thank you to the Hysteria team - Margie Bryant, Tejas Bhat and Henry Zwartz. - Making my debut on Sunrise with a recurring science segment. It's so much fun teaching Nat & Shirvo about science and I'm still trying not to freak out that it's live TV. - Building an audience of over 50,000 across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, and reaching 60M+ video views. It's kinda hard to wrap my head around these numbers but it makes me happy and proud that so many people want to geek out over science together.
Thank you to my audience, colleagues, friends and family for supporting my work and continuing to ask the interesting science questions. There's so much in store for 2026 and I can't wait to share more updates. In the meantime, happy holidays! ๐
For the kids, parents and teachers in your life - Science Time is all about fun, hands-on experiments that teach us about the world around us. From bubbles, to DIY chalk, to wobbly whale blubber... And led by Play School hosts Leah and Teo, with some very cool guest scientists.
Thanks to the amazingly talented Play School team for having me and making Science Time so magical!
I'm stoked to share that our web series Hysteria is a finalist for the Australian Museum Eureka Prize for Science Journalism!
Hysteria is a 14-part series about the challenges women face in a health system designed for men, by men. It's a deeply personal project that I'm very proud of, and it's very cool to get this recognition.
A huge thank you x 1000 to the brilliant Hysteria team - Margie Bryant, Tejas Bhat, Henry Zwartz and Martine Agranat. And thank you to Screen Australia for seeing the potential in this project and providing development funding.
The winners will be announced on September 3rd - fingers crossed! But it's already such an honour to be a finalist, in the company of talented journos Dr Jackson Ryan, Tyne Logan and Ashley Kyd.
Hysteria is on my IG, TikTok and YouTube channels so please give it a watch if you haven't already!
I canโt wait to share Hysteria with you after many months of working behind the scenes!

๐จ My new online series, Hysteria, is almost here!
Starting Monday March 10th, new eps dropping here every weekday at 7am AEDT.
Almost every woman I have met has a story about raising a health issue and being dismissed, disrespected or told โitโs all in your headโ. In Hysteria weโll be looking at why that happens, and what we might be able to do to change it.

At the start of 2024 I took a big risk and quit my 9-5 to work as a science communicator full time. Now in December, I'm sitting here and can't quite believe all of the opportunities I've had, the talented people I've worked with and the stories I've been able to share...
Just a few of the highlights: -Over 32,000 of you are following me on social media and you've watched my videos over 28 million times. How cool is that! One of my favourite parts of my week is reading the comments and seeing people get excited about robots/mummies/spaceflight. - I've been learning from the best at the ABC, first working on mini YouTube documentaries for ABC Science. Now I'm presenting and producing social content as part of the ABC Creator Program. - Production is underway for Hysteria, my social media documentary about the challenges women face in Australia's health system. Huge shoutout to the Hysteria team (Margie Bryant, Henry Zwartz and Tej Bhat) and Screen Australia for getting this project off the ground and supporting me as a first-time producer/writer/director. Looking forward to early 2025 when we get to release the episodes (stay tuned). - I'm getting into the podcast space, working with the Project 100 to cut through the noise surrounding health and longevity. Plus I've got another secret project (more details to come!).
Thank you to my audience, colleagues, friends and family for supporting my work and keeping asking the interesting science questions. You're the reason all of this is possible. Thank you x1000 and happy holidays!
