Praised be Jesus Christ!

Join the canons of St. Michael’s Abbey tomorrow as they elect the third Abbot of St. Michael’s Abbey.

The livestream will begin with the chanting of Terce, followed by the procession into the cloister, where the canons will cast their votes. During the election, we ask all the faithful to join us in prayer from wherever they may be, asking the Holy Spirit to guide the Chapter in this important moment in the life of the abbey.

Upon confirmation of the election, expected around midday, the abbey bells will peal and the official announcement of the name of the new Abbot will be made.

The community will then process into the Abbey Church with the newly elected Abbot, singing the Te Deum in thanksgiving. A series of traditional rites will follow, formally inaugurating the new Abbot in his office, including his Profession of Faith, the promise of obedience by the canons, and his first pontifical blessing.

The livestream will conclude with the chanting of Sext and the procession from the Abbey Church.

The broadcast will run uninterrupted throughout the proceedings.
