Soulaan and the Indestructible Memory of Our People
Our people carry a memory that cannot be erased. It is in the taste of the food our ancestors taught us to prepare, the songs that echo their spirit, the rhythms in our movement, and the signs in the land that our elders taught us to read. This memory is not a book, a digital file, or a monument—it is alive in us.
It is the source of soulaan, the life-force of knowing, the wisdom that connects us to our ancestors, to the earth, and to each other. Soulaan cannot be stolen, copied, or simulated. That is why cultures without this source can only imitate, appropriate, or recreate fragments of what we naturally carry. They can replicate our words, our recipes, our rituals—but they cannot replicate the knowing, the rooted understanding, the ancestral pulse that beats in us.
Our collective memory is not fragile. It can be suppressed, ignored, or misrepresented—but it will never be lost. It flows through each generation, teaching, guiding, and reminding us that we are the inheritors and stewards of knowledge that predates colonizers, and that will survive long after them.
We remember. We know. We are the living continuation of what the world tried to erase.
I have idiopathic gastroparesis since 2009 — I live with constant pain, nausea, and vomiting that I didn’t choose. And here are people willingly inducing the same symptoms just to lose weight? That’s not discipline or health; that’s idiocy. I have zero respect for the judgment of anyone who treats their body this way. You think it’s a shortcut — I know the consequences, and this is madness.
