For this year’s Halloween art, I was lucky to have my piece featured in the Drawn of the Dead art show at the Germantown Community Theatre! 🎃🕸️ It’ll be hanging alongside other amazing Halloween entries through November 10th — so if you’re in the area, check it out!
The piece is titled “Lair of the Weaver,” inspired by a short story from John Roach. 🪲 It draws from the real-life orb weaver spider (Argiope aurantia), one of which I spotted on the side of my house! In this scene, our trio stands frozen in fear as they venture into the Lair of the Weaver…
Artistically, I wanted to challenge myself with color matching in a specific lighting environment and foreground-focused perspective. Getting the lighting on the characters right was tricky — I had to make lots of adjustments to blend them naturally into the cave — but I’m happy with how it turned out!
