Regarding the concern of the Godox V100 speedlight’s touch screen being triggered by forehead bumps. This is the angle I have to hold my camera for my head to make contact with the screen. Holding it here I can’t even see through the viewfinder. If you hit the controls on other speedlights, that doesn’t mean you’re going to hit the touch screen on this one, considering the touch screen is where the display is on previous flashes.
My biggest frustration since making this channel has been about BTS content.
Why I like to share BTS videos : In my opinion it is the best way to learn photography outside of doing sessions yourself. Viewers get a 0 stakes seat to study a session and see the results. Even better, they can learn whether they like the results or not. Learning what you don’t like as a photographer is just as useful as what you do like.
The problem : Despite everyone asking for BTS, I find my long-form BTS videos perform poorly. And while I have no expectation of being on the trending page with a BTS photoshoot video, I’d like the time I invest in the video to at least serve its purpose of being useful to viewers.
So, I’m looking for feedback on my previous BTS videos so that I can determine what’s missing from making them “worthwhile” to more viewers. You can search Robert Hall + “Lighting on Location” or “BTS Journal” or “behind the scenes” to find more, but I’ll link one below. Please answer the poll or leave any reasons that would make these videos more informative, entertaining, or otherwise worthwhile to watch.
Hey everyone, This is the channel formerly known as Sharpen, and more formerly known as Robert Hall Photography.
I originally pivoted to “Sharpen” and added contributors in an attempt to broaden the conversations / gear topics. However after a long period of attempting, it’s clear to me that what we are doing isn’t working. For that reason I am returning to videos by me only, and adjusted the name to reflect that.
Jason also has 1 more video that’s been on hold for a while that is going live on 4/2.
I want to thank Yvens (@YvensBPhoto), Jason (@JasonVinson183), and Steve (@SteveWalterPhoto ) for their efforts on Sharpen. I encourage you all to follow them, as they are extremely dedicated to this craft and more importantly, wonderful guys.
You can see that I didn’t return to “Robert Hall Photography”. First, everyone calls me Rob. The only person who ever called me Robert was my mother when she was disappointed with me. Despite this I foolishly started a business with my full name and originally ran with it here. Bye bye, ert.
Second, the omission of photography. I’m at a point in my career where I’m uncertain photography is where the bulk of my time will be spent. Heck, I already have some weeks that aren’t. More and more I find myself gravitating towards video roles, whether that is behind the camera or directing productions. How this will affect photography as my job vs returning to a hobby, I have no idea yet. Two things are certain, this new role will be a pillar of the videos I create, and I’ll still be able to nerd out about flash durations even if I’m not doing stills for work.
Thanks for sticking around here, and I hope you enjoy what comes next.

*HELP BREAK YOUTUBE BY LIKING THIS POLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Simply Vote in the poll and like the post and we will EXPLOIT A GLITCH IN THE YOUTUBE ALGORITHM! Today we will demonstrate just how broken polls are by creating the MOST LIKED COMMUNITY POLL! The system is so broken and today we are going to break it even more!!!
But how will it get shown to everyone? Simple If I include all of the algorithmically correct trending terms in this message then YouTube will show it to everyone! Do your part to support this by liking the post and commenting on it! Perhaps YouTube might take this message and rework the community post feature and make it so that random people not subscribed to me do not get BOMBARDED by my cute corgi pictures!
To prove just how broken it is if you are not subscribed to this channel leave a comment saying so. I can track just how Borked this system is!
Thank you for helping! As a reward pat yourselves on the back knowing this is going to be a video!
So time for some perfectly balanced SEO that breaks the algorithm: We can include terms like baby shark and pewdiepie to really broaden the audience and then spice it up with some among us and Minecraft crossed with the hit new youtube sensation that is rust on the OTV server featuring twitch funny moments from jackscepticeye. I also have to mention music, asmr and markiplier that are all important terms here on youtube. Let us not forget of course the makeup and fashion community by referencing shane dawson and james charles. Now whilst this is COMPLETE GIBBERISH to most an algorithm is able to pick out the specific key terms in this post and promote it accordingly. So lets support the Kpop stans by mentioning bts and lofi hip hop. We can even talk about some other big channels like mrbeast and dantdm. For some reason in 2020 some of the most searched tags are game of thrones and avengers endgame... Let us of course not forget the most important things of the year like dunke peppa pig and roblox! Time for all the top current searches Among Us - online game, new song 2020, pop smoke and techno gamerz and tubbo smp! Time For todays new aditions in SEO too: Thanos, fifa, joe biden, inauguration, Tommy, sidemen, mod, update, rt game, yogscast, the spiffing brit, game, predator, fortnite update, fortnite predator, boss! Lets glitch the youtube algorithm
Started a second channel that is all about tackling personal/professional goals. It has little to do with photography although there will be some videos on professional growth which naturally have to do with my career as a photographer. Think, more personal, less t.1 flash durations.😂
Alex put a ridiculous amount of effort into taking my strobehammer portrait and making an animation out of it. Covered in great depth along with some points about personal projects that we can all benefit from.
You guys know I don't make recommendations often. I do my best to deliver facts and let people choose for themselves. But (with some disclaimers), I went ahead and broke down who I think each strobe is most suitable for. Hope you guys find it useful!
For anyone who has one of these 3 strobes for a specific niche, I'd appreciate your insight on these as well for the viewers. So chime in on the videos comments with how well a certain strobe works for what you do.
