THE WATER PHOENIX is a tribute to our Ancestral Roots. It is an imagination of what Prehistoric Music sounded like in the East Asian region 1.7 million years ago, from the time of the Yuanmou Man: the oldest human fossil found in Yunnan Province: member of Homo Erectus.

My genetic makeup is predominantly from the region known today as China. I’m 92% Chinese, 4% Mongolian, 2% Korean, 1.5% Siberian, 0.5% Kazakhstani. Did you know that “Chinese” is not an ethnicity, but a modern-day country? The people in China are from 200 unique ethnic groups/tribes- and 56 are officially recognized by the government today. Each of these ancient tribes have their own languages, spiritual beliefs, and culture. This is my tribute to the primal music of our shared ancestors- music that pre-dates countries, into our shared ancestral DNA with all humankind.

Practicing for the Concert at the Vatican on Dec 7. Just posted a video! One of the pieces I will be performing is “Dio e Amore” (God is Love) by Roman Catholic priest and composer, Marco Frisina. He is Director of the Pastoral Worship Center at the Vatican and I’m so looking forward to playing this live with him conducting. 🙏🏼🤍 I will also be performing 2 pieces for cello and orchestra by Dario Vero and appearing with Hans Zimmer!
