We are Celia, a book restorer and Enzo, a Sea Captain, who decided to change their lives and live between Lucca and Bagni di Lucca in Northern Tuscany.
We want to share our love of the area, its beauty, and its culture and show you what ordinary life is like here. We also occasionally venture into the rest of the boot.
We drop into Enzo's Neapolitan mother's recipe book and of course cook and enjoy local dishes with our Tuscany friends. If you are interested in renting our farmhouse just send us an email.
Please subscribe to our channel to enable us to go and discover amazing people producing incredible food and keeping our ancient traditions alive. You will also meet our fellow villagers and see what life is like on a Tuscan hill and in the beautiful city of Lucca.
Piazza Talk Lucca - Enzo & Celia in Tuscany
Having been asked many times to do a day tour of Lucca starting at the railway station. We have finally got around to it. This day of course just tickles the surface of our beautiful city. Enzo, as an Italian, knows his history, and having been here for 25 years, we have come to know many little secrets of this Tuscan gem. We also added a map at the end so you can follow the route. Have fun and don't forget a coffee and gelato.

I am always being asked what to pack by guests at our Farmhouse in Tuscany. Informal dressing is the charm of rural getaways, but I understand the desire to look put together when exploring the city. Let’s dive into some capsule wardrobe essentials that strike a balance between comfort and style with Guilia who has worked in the fashion industry for many years. Viareggio Is famous for its huge Papier-maché floats that give a poignant message. In our latest video, we tell the story of the artists and community behind one of the floats. In this week's video, Enzo does pasta al limone (pasta with lemon) 5 ingredients in 5 minutes sophisticated and elegant, perfect for summer and so quick so no slaving over a hot stove. We also interview and join the dancers of Dance Italia, a contemporary dance project based each summer in Lucca started due to a young dancer escaping from the trauma of living next to the Twin Towers during the 9/11 tragedy. So now after many years, the project has converted its own studio space. Find out more about this fascinating story by watching the video.

Piazza Talk Lucca - Enzo & Celia in Tuscany
A few weeks ago we did the Transumanza, the ancient tradition of walking with sheep or cows up to high summer pastures. We took a flock up from the valley climbing up to 1,700 mt/5,500 ft to find green rich lands for the sheep, where they can stay cool. They roam free during the day but must be protected a night from the wolves. A shepherd stays with them 24 hours. The University of Turin and the EU are supporting research on how to make this wonderful sustainable farming work today. Like every romantic dream, there is a downside, if there are huge flocks they can cause the erosion of paths, historically the earth would be loaded onto donkeys to rebuild the paths, this obviously is not possible now,. Let us hope for a way to extend this way of farming, sheep enjoy a good life and the environment can be protected. The meat produced is of course different and more muscular, but how wonderful to know that these animals have had a wonderful life. The video is called Forgotten Italy let us hope this way of life won't be forgotten. Thank you for watching and if you enjoy our work please subscribe to our channel and share. Thank you so much for your support.
