Most people on dating apps will tell you they actively detest it because everybody else is so... weird.
Yet they grudgingly continue their swiping on because of the need for love.
The core issue is needing someone that can give you love. But what if you didn't need it?
Here's a thought:
The Sun never tires from giving everything around it energy. It's an infinite resource as far as we're concerned.
Love, much like that is an infinite resource. One of my beliefs is that you literally cannot give too much of it away.
In fact, if I've shown someone love, I've always come away from it more energised.
The downfall comes in the expectation of reciprocation. Does the sun expect? No. So why should I?
If I give love freely, without expectations- I will feel the presence of love much more in my life.
Then, you transcend the need for someone. You can still want someone, but you don't need them.
I that's the true mind state to work toward.
Raising your awareness to love goes hand in hand with this too. Love is everywhere if you watch out for it.
It's in the friend who brings along some homemade tiramisu because you like it.
Or the brother who sends you a postcard with a special quote
Or that family member who keeps calling you, sometimes to your annoyance, but always with good intentions
One may not have all kinds of love- romantic, familial, friendly... at all stages of life.
But the unlock is in the appreciation of whatever love you do recieve.
There's always something to be grateful for. Most times, we're just too blind to it.

For my birthday this year, I decided to write an essay to my 18 year old self titled 'How To Have Great Relationships'.
Whether it is romance, friendships or family ties- I try to give you a set of tools that you can use for building great relationships.
It draws on my life experiences as well as research into neuroscience, psychology and philosophy- things like attachment styles, nervous system regulation

I've been thinking about 'thinking' for a few years now.
Then one day I started writing about it. Just as a reminder for my future self.
Now, I regularly revisit and update my notes from time to time.
Here's one such entry I wrote 2+ years ago:

Want to see an example of some next level e-commerce marketing?
I visited this website www.jammys.co.in and soon as you get in, it prompts you to pick a song from a pre-selected playlist.
You choose one and the song starts playing in the background. You go back to your shopping experience.
I browsed the catalog for a few minutes, and started doing some other work- but left the website open in another tab because I liked the music.
It's been 15 minutes now- the playlist is now on some OG 80's hits and I still want to keep listening.
I imagine that MUST be having an effect on the 'stickiness' of their website, SEO metrics, and ultimately- revenue.
Is anyone else doing this?
