Today is National #MMIP Awareness Day. Here in the Cherokee Nation, we are putting a spotlight on this crisis by declaring the entire month of May as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Month.
On Friday, Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. joined tribal leaders and MMIP advocates to sign a proclamation acknowledging the ongoing crisis surrounding missing and murdered Indigenous persons across the country.
This month — and always — the Cherokee Nation stands for an end to this crisis. We must all work together to end this violence and protect one another. ✊🏽
If you have information or tips on MMIP cases involving Cherokee Nation citizens or the Cherokee Nation Reservation, please call the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service at 918-207-3800.
Wado to Miss Cherokee Ella Mounce, Little Cherokee Ambassador Ellci Vann, Junior Miss Cherokee Dayci Starr, Little Cherokee Ambassador Maggie Rhodes, and Little Cherokee Ambassador Ella Raper for participating in this MMIP campaign.
