rest in peace to all soldiers who died during world war 1
it’s also quite sad to think that the place where my great great grandfather was from (ypres), was completely destroyed during world war 1

apophatic theism works because it makes sure that even if we’re unable to fully know god (as if he’s defined by what’s beyond our perception we can’t define what we can’t know), we can rule out what god cannot be according to teachings and cognition. therefore, it doesn’t need an absolute view of what god is and what not, but if you know what god isn’t, that alone brings a far more accurate view. a primary reason on why i appreciate it is because it clears out how omnipotence is seen. omnipotent and whatever else doesn’t mean suddenly intervening and suddenly changing perspectives of a sinner, because nothing, nothing, follows a drastic change in a short time. there’s always a process and a thought before it. it is gradual, which is another reason why claiming god as something positive in many ways (claiming it as positive in some isn’t inherently inaccurate) likely shows what god is not instead of what god is, because a gradual process is not noticeable until the end, and so the reasoning on why won’t be know entirely either

i don’t care how egoistical i will sound for saying this
my boundaries matter more than the boundaries of a group. i dont care how someone feels after being offended by my statement. if you can’t understand or deal with it, go ahead and criticize me all you want
most people fail to realize that being blunt is sometimes the only way to communicate healthy boundaries. my needs above everyone else’s.

bored so
for whatever reason, the flemish ethnicity is thrown quite a lot on provinces that aren’t necessarily flemish by history nor by culture. what i personally consider to be part of the flemish ethnicity are west and east flanders. they had much more influence and contact with the french, have different dialects and are generally more geographically isolated from the netherlands (so there was less mixing with the dutch). during the county of flanders, flanders also had some land in france (stretching to lille). however, the only provinces in nowadays belgium that belonged there were east and west flanders. the rest was under duchies such as duchy of brabant or county of hainaut. while it is true that mixing did inevitably happpen, especially when all of the provinces got put under the burgundian netherlands where both the northern low countries and the southern low countries united, their cultures had already differed, and culture erasure is something that doesn’t happen from just uniting. uniting those countries just makes them easier to bring contact with eachother and trade economically (which was a huge advantage for the low countries). if there truly was culture erasure, the southern dutch wouldn’t have rebelled against the northerner dutch just as easily. and why were there clear differences in christian denomination? the southern dutch wouldn’t have stayed loyal to spain while the northern dutch revolted; they were politically unified but their motives and cultures differed, which causes political tension (a part of the reason why belgium even exists) . while you could then argue that all the southern dutch must have similar cultures, they dont. provinces such as antwerp, flemish brabant and limburg were much more in contact with the modern day netherlands through culture and trade than east and west flanders. not only because of geographical location but because historically, those places belonged to duchies that stretched into the netherlands, making it easier for the people to mix and adjust to similar cultures. they were isolated from the french since east and west flanders were arguably the busiest of them all with the french, and also because the french having to go through west and east flanders just to get to antwerp and have to then mix in with an entire duchy is unpractical. by the time a french mixes with the brabantian dutch there will already be newborns who are purely brabantian dutch by culture and most of their ancestry. another thing is that west and east flanders are very flat places that barely have any hills, making infrastructure and transportation very easy there and easily more accessible to the french.
note that flemish by people and flemish by ethnicity and dna are 2 different things. flemish by people refers to the dutch speaking provinces in belgium while the ethnicity and/or dna is what i just talked about
so to really say it: yes, you can absolutely be ethnically dutch (and even by genetics) while being politically belgian or having ancestry from eastern provinces such as antwerp, flemish brabant and limburg. they all interacted with the netherlands in ways and have had a lot of mixing between the modern day borders. ethnically flemish would be west and east flanders
