The Kenner ALIENS VS PREDATOR 2-Pack.

This was the legendary set from the 90’s that got me started again on action-figure collecting in my early adulthood.

I had not frequented the toy section of my local department store in many years and there was no Internet at the time.

There was no way of me knowing that companies were now making kids toys based on some of the MOST GRUESOMELY VIOLENT sci-fi action thrillers from my childhood.

I chanced upon this in stores at the time and could not believe my eyes. It seemed like a dream. And there was no avenue for me to get any further information on it.

I just knew I wanted it. For the first time in years, there were action-figures at the store that I REALLY WANTED.

I did not have the money for it at the time. I told myself I would get the cash somehow and come back for it.

A few days later, I was back. Cash in hand. Ready to take it home.

But it was gone………..

Perhaps the only time you’ll see these 2 icons of the 80’s together in the same frame - Jackie Chan & He-Man!

During the climatic fight scene of 1985’s Police Story, Jackie is seen thrashing the
bad guys inside a Hong Kong shopping mall - specifically at the Mattel toy department.

Look closely in the background and you’ll spot several action-figure and product placements from Masters Of The Universe, Barbie, Rainbow Brite and Secret Wars!

In the last screenshot where Jackie punches out the bad guy and he crashes into the toy shelf; an original 1985 Mint In Box MOTU Point Dread playset is seen falling down on him.

If you are a Content Creator on YouTube, you would have noticed them incorporating an AI-powered reply system that allows you to choose from a selection of ‘best responses’ to comments left by viewers.

While I always tend to reply commentators on the Retro Toy Escapades channel personally; it’s been fascinating seeing how the AI feature creates engagement in a tone that most closely matches the channel’s established vibe; even for niche category segments like vintage toys.

Fascinating……and creepy! Because the damn thing’s been watching me!
