✝︎ “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” - Luke 9:23 – KJV 1611
Following Christ is not just believing it’s a daily invitation to surrender.
To deny yourself means to let go of pride and selfish desires to live God’s will.
Taking up your cross means obeying even when it hurts, even when the world mocks.
And following Jesus means imitating His love, His humility, and His faithfulness to the very end.
Ask yourself: What do I need to let go of today to truly follow Jesus?

✝︎ In this verse, God speaks about Bezaleel, the son of Uri, whom He chose to lead the construction of the Tabernacle. Here we see something unique in the Old Testament: Bezaleel is the first man specifically mentioned as being filled with the Spirit of God for a particular task. The filling of the Spirit is not only for prophesying or ruling but also for granting technical skill, practical wisdom, and artistic creativity in the service of God. The word “wisdom” points to deep discernment; “understanding” speaks of spiritual insight; and “knowledge” shows mastery of the craft. This reveals that divine inspiration is not limited to preachers or leaders God empowers craftsmen and ordinary workers when their labor serves His glory. The Tabernacle, the dwelling place of God’s presence, was planned and built under the Spirit’s direction every detail reflected heaven and God’s redemptive plan.

✝︎ This verse records the dramatic encounter between Hagar, Sarai’s Egyptian maid, and the Angel of the LORD in the wilderness after she fled from her mistress’s harsh treatment (Gen 16:6-12). Pregnant and desperate, Hagar is met by the Angel, who comforts her, commands her to return, and promises to greatly multiply her descendants. In response to this divine encounter, Hagar declares that the LORD is “El-Roi” “the God who sees me.” This unique title reveals a profound truth: God sees the afflicted and forgotten, even when they feel alone and cast aside by others. Significantly, the first person in Scripture to give a name to God is a foreign, enslaved woman showing God’s grace reaching the marginalized and His compassionate omniscience over every detail of human life.

✝︎ In these verses, Jesus declares to Martha that He Himself is the source of both resurrection and eternal life, shifting hope from a distant future event to His own present person. By affirming that whoever believes in Him will live even if he dies, Christ reveals that physical death is not the end for the believer but only a passage. Furthermore, His promise that the one who lives and believes in Him shall never die refers to the eternal life that begins now and continues unbroken. His closing question “Believest thou this?” is deeply personal, inviting every reader not just to admire Him as a teacher, but to trust Him as the very guarantee of victory over death.
