Two of my prized receivers are in for repairs… My KLH 27 had been serviced earlier this year but started acting up shortly after. Buzzing sounds. No good.
My friend Byron (who services vintage stereo equipment as a hobby) replaced several capacitors but not a full re-cap.
The larger receiver is my Marantz 4230 Quad that I got on FB Marketplace for $100! I left it on all day by accident and it developed a wicked hum. Byron replaced a few capacitors and has it sounding clear again.
I should be able to pick them up soon as Byron puts the finishing touches on them…
My only Record Store Day Black Friday vinyl purchase... Spotted this one when the list was released and knew I had to get it. While I prefer all the original mixes of these songs, it's great to have all the remixes on one album. Anybody else go crazy for Ladytron back in the '00s?
I just listed a bunch of band tees in my eBay store if any of you are looking for t-shirts from Bruce Springsteen, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Stryper, Saliva, Kiss, Y&T and Paul Simon. I also just listed a vintage 1978 Bee Gees tour t-shirt and will also be listing a vintage t-shirt for Beatlemania.

My streak of good luck continues! I walked into the thrift store the other day and there were two records handed to me by one of the employees I’m friendly with. One of the records was this 4-disc set from a band called Swans. The album is called “Soundtracks For The Blind” and it’s valued at close to $75!!!
Was scrolling Facebook last night around 6:30 pm and saw a local thrift store post about an epic cassette collection they were selling. I called immediately to ask the price per cassette and they told me $1. I asked if they could hold them (they did) and told them I’d be there ASAP. When I got there they told me they also had 3 big boxes of CDs as well…
Ya’ll… Grunge, Alternative, Punk, Classic Rock, Rap. All the good stuff from the ‘90s. CDs were $1.50 each.
So I bought everything for $300.
Currently ripping the best of it into iTunes and separating out what I intend to keep, what I’ll sell in my friend’s shop, and what I’ll sell to the record shop…
Small town Nebraska thrift store scores… some heavy hitters in here. Luckily the vinyl is all VG+ or better because some of these jackets are rough. 99¢ each!
Also got some cool records at an estate sale… vinyl haul video with flip-throughs coming soon!
The main record shop here in Omaha - Homer’s - posts videos when they have a new used record drop hitting the shelves. You’re allowed to call the store to request a hold on a record. Most of the time I catch the video well after it was released so I miss out on securing a desirable record. In last night’s used drop I spotted this Lana Del Rey album for $19.99 and called in 4 minutes after the video was posted and…
