I'm a YouTube Creator with over 8 years of experience and have made well over a thousand videos. This channel is where I share a "creator vlog" of various ideas and thoughts about being a creator.
I've changed the name of the channel to more accurately represent the direction it's going. It's now officially the "Brianized Creator Vlog". Thanks for watching.
I'm seeing a strange trend. For every several thousand people who watch a video, we will get one guy (same guy, often times) who says, "Ew, AI art? Unsubscribe.".
Here's the thing... we use AI for thumbnails when we don't have or cannot create an image on our own to convey what we want to show. Often times, AI is used to form one aspect and I draw, photograph, or composite other elements into the thumbnails. Believe it or not, our thumbnails tend to take a long time to make and almost never fully AI created.
Also, while one in thousands seems offended by AI Art... I hate to tell them, it's not going anywhere, it's in almost all marketing and advertising at this point, so, unless they intend to unsubscribe from the entire world, their efforts are useless.
In addition, why do people use AI Art? Well, we recently did a test with a real photo thumbnail vs an AI art one. The AI Art thumbnail outperformed the photo by 300%. In another test, it was about 400% better. That is why people use AI Art. It works.
Does AI get a lot wrong? Oh for sure, and sometimes it just looks awful. I won't even comment on the ethical side of it, but I will say this: When photography became a thing, they thought it was wrong because it took away from "real artists". When digital photography replaced film, they thought it was ruining the "art of photography", and now people say AI is stealing. Well... perhaps the methods they use sometimes are questionable, but.... NAME ONE ARTIST WHO NEVER SAW WORK BY OTHERS AND WAS INSPIRED BY IT OR OUTRIGHT COPIED IT TO MAKE THEIR OWN WORK. Yeah, I said it in all caps because that's how people learn too. We learn from what others have done before us.
Not one artist ever created something that was not inspired by, learned from, imitated from, or otherwise copied from the work of another artist. It's just not how it works. AI is doing the same thing. It's all about perspective.
Do I like seeing outright theft of other's work? No, of course not, but that happens with PEOPLE stealing other's work too. A LOT more than you'd think.
Oh my gods. I have been deep diving into video codecs and profiles, and it's driving me a little batty. I tested so many factors, multiple profiles, multiple options and found.... the way we did it was working just fine. YouTube is the Great Equalizer. It's amazing how the fine differences disappear once a video is uploaded. Wow.... spent two weeks pulling my hair out to find a better way, and... I couldn't. The way we did it is totally fine, lol. Funny, but not. Okay, it's funny... but, now I know at least!

First real day off in a while. Spent watching all the Firefly episodes, drinking mead and doing nothing. Just about perfect.
