Free Documentary - Nature

#Curiosity Seen recently not by me but by many people in this area (Vienna and surroundings) This is Emil the moose. In German, moose = elch which explains why he’s been christened Emil. Emil Elch works well in German.

Anyways, moose are not common in these parts. They’re found in Northern Europe. This guy apparently has been going walkabout: he’s from Poland and has wound his way across Poland through the Czech Republic, into Austria. He’s friendly and seems unconcerned about his celebrity. He even swam across the Danube which is crazy. I didn’t realize moose are such strong swimmers. They are. Also, they are solitary creatures.

Here’s to Emil, all his moose compadres and their swimming superpowers.

In memory of Marine Biologist and Shark Behaviorist Erich Ritter who died this day August 28th, 2020, we recommend

Sharks: Masters of the Ocean with Erich Ritter
LINK: https://youtu.be/F9Q61WJ5stQ

This documentary features sharks in a different light as explained by the researcher known for his unconventional views - Shark Behaviorist Erich Ritter. Ritter's approach to shark research involved close encounters and interactions, sometimes challenging traditional views on shark behavior and safety. He founded SharkSchool in 1996, emphasizing education and safe human-shark interactions. He argued against the common theories that sharks mistake humans for seals or are attracted by blood, and he developed ADORE-SANE, a framework for guiding human-shark interactions.

Ritter himself was the victim of a bull shark attack in the Bahamas in 2002 while filming for Discovery Channel's Shark Week. The incident, where a bull shark bit his calf, was captured on camera. Ritter survived the attack, which resulted in the loss of part of his left calf and significant blood loss, but continued his work with sharks.

He died, aged 61, in August 2020, shortly after this documentary - Masters of the Ocean - was completed, of a heart condition. His work and vision remain.

#new Wild Sri Lanka Ep2 Forest Of Clouds
LINK: https://youtu.be/9xuinz4eeLc

The forests of Sri Lanka rise above the rest of the country like islands out of the sea. Here, species found nowhere else in the world have been marooned on high forest plateaus, isolated from the rest of Sri Lanka, as they are unable to cross from one patch of forest to another. This mountainous terrain is exposed to not just one, but two monsoons each year, creating a distinct microclimate among the cloud-cloaked trees. Blue magpies, red-slender loris and purple-faced monkeys inhabit this strange, colourful – and ever-diminishing – world.

Available in Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Ireland, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela
