1945 ඔක්තෝබර් 16 වෙනිදා, ලෝකයේ සාගින්න දුරු කිරීමේ අරමුණින් එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ආහාර හා කෘෂිකර්ම සංවිධානය (FAO) පිහිටුවනු ලැබුවා. 👩‍🌾 අද වෙනකොටත් ලෝකයේ මිලියන ගණනක් මිනිස්සු බඩගින්නේ ඉන්නවා. ඒ නිසා, මේ දවසේදී ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතාවය (Food Security) ගැන සහ ආහාර නාස්තිය අවම කිරීම ගැන අපි හැමෝම හිතන්න ඕන. 🙏

නූතන තාක්ෂණය, විශේෂයෙන්ම පරිගණක විද්‍යාව, කෘෂිකර්මාන්තයට විශාල විප්ලවයක් ගෙනත් දීලා තියෙනවා. 🚜 ඩ්‍රෝන යානා (Drones) පාවිච්චි කරලා කුඹුරුවල තත්ත්වය නිරීක්ෂණය කරනවා. 🌱 පොළොවේ තියෙන සංවේදක (Sensors) මගින් පසේ තෙතමනය මැනලා, ජලය අවශ්‍ය වෙලාවට විතරක් ලබා දෙනවා. 💧 මේ හැමදේම කරන්නේ "Smart Agriculture" (ස්මාර්ට් කෘෂිකර්මය) කියන සංකල්පය යටතේ දත්ත (Data) සහ ඇල්ගොරිතම (Algorithms) පාවිච්චි කරලා, අස්වැන්න වැඩි කරගන්නයි.

ලෝක ප්‍රකට බයිරන් සාමිවරයාගේ දියණිය වුණත්, ඒඩා තෝරාගත්තේ කවියේ ලෝකය නෙවෙයි, ගණිතයේ ලෝකයයි. 📐 ඇය, "පරිගණකයේ පියා" ලෙස සැලකෙන චාල්ස් බැබේජ්ගේ Analytical Engine යන්ත්‍රය සඳහා ක්‍රමලේඛයක් (program) ලිව්වා. ඒ, පරිගණකයක් නිර්මාණය වීමටත් ශතවර්ෂයකට කලින්!

ඇය එදා දැක්කා, මේ යන්ත්‍රයට නිකන්ම ගණන් හදනවට වඩා දෙයක් කරන්න පුළුවන් කියලා. සංගීතය නිර්මාණය කරන්න, චිත්‍ර අඳින්න පවා පුළුවන් වෙයි කියලා ඇය සිහින මැව්වා. ඒ කියන්නේ, පරිගණකයකට දෙන්න ඕන උපදෙස් මාලාව, ඒ කියන්නේ "Algorithm" එක ගැන මුලින්ම හිතුවේ ඇයයි. ඒ නිසාම ඇයව "ලොව පළමු පරිගණක ක්‍රමලේඛිකාව" විදිහට සලකනවා. තාක්ෂණික ලෝකයේ කාන්තාවන්ගේ දායකත්වය සමරන්න මේක නියම දවසක්! 🚀
