Today we mourn the loss of Sonny Jurgensen, the Hall of Fame quarterback whose golden arm, intelligence, and charismatic personality made him one of the most beloved figures in NFL history. Over an 18-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington franchise, Jurgensen threw for 32,000+ yards and 255 touchdowns, led the league in passing multiple times, and became a symbol of precision and poise in the game.
Drafted in 1957, he was part of the 1960 NFL Championship team in Philadelphia and went on to redefine the quarterback position in Washington after a landmark trade in 1964. A five-time Pro Bowler, member of the NFL’s 1960s All-Decade Team, and a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee (1983), Sonny’s influence went far beyond the stats — he captivated fans with his fearless spirit and unforgettable style.
After retiring from playing, he became a cherished broadcaster and ambassador for the sport, staying connected to the game and its fans for decades. Today, we celebrate his legacy — a true giant of football — and honor his memory. 🏈

Lolich’s legacy is forever tied to the Detroit Tigers and the era of workhorse arms — a three-time All-Star and 1968 World Series MVP who won three complete games in that Fall Classic, including a legendary Game 7 on two days’ rest.
With a 16-year MLB career, 217 wins, and 2,832 strikeouts — the most by a lefty at the time of his retirement — Mickey wasn’t just durable; he was dominant. He stood tall every time his team needed him, blending grit, heart, and consistency in a way few have since matched.
Whether on the mound or later as a part of the community, he embodied the spirit of baseball — humble, hardworking, and unforgettable. Rest in peace, Mickey — your game will always be remembered. ⚾
