In this dream like sequence halfway through the first book, Anna and Joe are on the moon, crossing a valley full of poppies. Joe’s dream continues, and takes them across a mesmerizing array of different lunar geographic features. These, of course, are fantastical by today’s standards, but this dream is a good representation of how little people truly understood about the moon, and even wrote fantastic articles about the moon back in 1835.
