Our girls setting foot on the continent for the first time. Conversations about what it actually takes for a Black American family to build something here instead of just visiting.

What’s warming my heart most is how Kenya is affecting my kids. No iPads, no phones, no TV. They’ve been active in nature, making new friends, and here you can see them volunteering.

We went to the grocery store with Traverze Culture and filled three carts with essentials like rice, milk, and snacks, then donated it all to Saint Martin’s. Our kids didn’t even need to be told to pass out food and interact with the students. They washed the dishes too, and would not let us leave until they finished.

These kids are so cool and have radiant personalities. They may need resources outside the box, but inside the box they have everything they need. These smiles are living proof.

They are beautiful inside and out, and we feel indebted to them now that we’re here in Kenya for good. One thing we’re not going to do is extract from Kenya. We’re going to pour into the youth, the culture, and the continued advancement of this beautiful country, including the children and staff of Saint Martin’s in Kibera.
